  1. I believe that global warming is real, but I believe it is probably natural, coming from fissures in the earth, the natural cycle, and of course, just the fact that there are so many of us on the planet.

  2. i think global warming is real, i think some scientist are just saying, that its not real cuz they got payed to do that ,

it seems like i hear about global warming more and more everday

like my school has turned all green as stuff, and all we do is atlk about it , and reduce reuse recycle, and it seems like we talk about it more then we are acctuly doing things about it  and it seems like the governmet isint helping ither,

like i havent seen any drastic chnges about it. or to help it in our community. and it bugs me

  3. It's Gores fault

Average home consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours per year-US Dept of Energy. Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh more than 20 times national avg. Gore’s average monthly NES electric bill tops $1,359.00. http://www.tennesseepolicy.org/main/arti...

  4. Do some research from sources that are uninterested in the whole argument. Maybe that will help as a lot of folks have learned to make some easy money by spouting the man-made global warming stuff.

Here are a few facts you were probably already aware of.

Remember reading about the wooly mammoth? He was a big elephant that lived in North America. He was covered in hair because most of the country was extremely cold and covered in glaciers. Now picture him in your mind. Now then, where is he now? ... Where did the glaciers go? ... Was the wooly mammoth driving a big gas-guzzling 1972 Chevy Suburban?

How did that wooly mammoth get to North America? Diesel-powered boats? Coal-powered steamers? Nope. He walked here. Probably the same route the original Americans used. Seems it used to be so cold that the Arctic ice cap and miscellaneous glaciers covered the Bering Sea between what is now Alaska and Russia. Where did that ice go? Did the original Americans use incandescent bulbs?

Let's move forward a few thousand years. Remember the Vikings? Those travellers from Scandinavia that sailed all over the North Atlantic? Well, a bunch of them found this neat neat island that had great weather for farming and stuff. After a few generations it got cold and the local glaciers came and they had to move back ... Why is that? Should they have gone to nuclear fuel instead of the smoky wood fires they were using?

It is very easy to see that in just the last few hundred years we've had significant climate changes. Was man to blame for all of them? Did climate change only begin since the last 100 years?

Another way of looking at it. Okay. Let's all pretend there IS such a thing as man-made global warming. Many of the supporters claim it is too late to stop the dramatic climate changes that are coming... why, look at all the hurricanes they said we'd get in 2007.  ... Okay. If it is too late to FIX the "problem" then why would we cut off our only hope which would be technological advances that would help us overcome the problem. When the weather cooled for several years in Ireland and wiped out the potato farmers we had thousands of deaths each year to famine and nutrition-related disease. ... Thousands more emigrated to the US and elsewhere... That's not an option anymore. Only technology will save us and it's technology and scientific development that we're told we must curtail.

  5. It's real, it's mostly caused by humans, it's as bad as the scientists say, it's worse than the media says (the media tries to be 'balanced'), and it's a very bad thing.

    Check out this video:

There are many basic scientific facts which can only be explained if the current global warming is being caused by an increased greenhouse effect due to carbon dioxide accumulating in the atmosphere from humans burning fossil fuels.

For example, the planet is warming as much or more during the night than day.  If the warming were due to the Sun, the planet should warm a lot more during the day when the Sun has influence.  Greenhouse gases trap heat all the time, so they warm the planet regardless of time of day.  Another example is that the upper atmosphere is cooling because the greenhouse gases trap the heat in the lower atmosphere.  If warming were due to the Sun, it would be warming all layers of the atmosphere.

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

We know it's warming, and we've measured how much:

    http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/science...

Scientists have a good idea how the Sun and the Earth's natural cycles and volcanoes and all those natural effects change the global climate, so they've gone back and checked to see if they could be responsible for the current global warming.  What they found is:

Over the past 30 years, all solar effects on the global climate have been in the direction of (slight) cooling, not warming.  This is during a very rapid period of global warming.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/62902...

    http://www.pubs.royalsoc.ac.uk/media/pro...

So the Sun certainly isn't a large factor in the current warming.  They've also looked at natural cycles, and found that we should be in the middle of a cooling period right now.

"An often-cited 1980 study by Imbrie and Imbrie determined that 'Ignoring anthropogenic and other possible sources of variation acting at frequencies higher than one cycle per 19,000 years, this model predicts that the long-term cooling trend which began some 6,000 years ago will continue for the next 23,000 years.'"

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milankovitc...

    http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/ab...

So it's definitely not the Earth's natural cycles.  They looked at volcanoes, and found that

    a) volcanoes cause more global cooling than warming, because the particles they emit block sunlight

    b) humans emit over 150 times more CO2 than volcanoes annually

    http://volcano.und.edu/vwdocs/Gases/man....

So it's certainly not due to volcanoes.  Then they looked at human greenhouse gas emissions.  We know how much atmospheric CO2 concentrations have increased over the past 50 years:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Mauna...

And we know from isotope ratios that this increase is due entirely to human emissions from burning fossil fuels.  We know how much of a greenhouse effect these gases like carbon dioxide have, and the increase we've seen is enough to have caused almost all of the warming we've seen over the past 30 years (about 80-90%).  You can see a model of the various factors over the past century here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Clima...

This is enough evidence to convince almost all climate scientists that humans are the primary cause of the current global warming.

  6. yes its going bad i can see from when i was a child till now. i mean down in texas its getting hotter and hotter as we go i hate it and up north in michigan used to be so cold now its not 1/2 as cold as it used to be .

  7. there was an ice age and then there was global warming. this will repeat itself over and over again. all humans are doing is giving it a little push. global warming is not a cause of us, all these scientists and tree huggers just need somethin to cry about, but thats just my opinion.

  8. well i do belive in it.

i think it is going to distroy our planet :[

recycle and help this planet for your great-great-great-great-great-great-grea... grandkids.

    :]

  9. who gives a c**p right now.

    im not worrying about it.

im not gonna be alive when it starts getting real bad.

im just livin my life to the fullest

  10. Im going to have to go with John on this one.

    Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...

    esssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss...

Its very Natural for the weather to change every once and a while.

Just be glad your not burning to death.

    Wait... What about Global Cooling?

  11. It's real and NATURAL...............cavemen weren't driving SUVs or working in huge factories when global warming started 10,000+ years ago (the end of the last ice age).................

  12. b.s.

  13. I don't believe in global warming, I use to though, then I started researching around on the idea.  I do agree that the temps may be rising..however there lots and lots of different types of weather patterns, that can cause unusual temps, and weather.  According to people that believe in global warming.. carbon dioxide is a major problem, and the amount of carbon dioxide  in the environment needs to be reduced.  I mentioned that so I could say that we humans exhale carbon dioxide.  Also there has been plenty of unusually cold temps and unusually large amounts of snow in some areas.   It has also been proven that the earths climate warms and cools.  Throughout history the earths climate has warmed and cooled.  I also remember when everyone was worried that the earth was headed for another ice age... that was back in the 90s.... and also when everyone was worried that the earth was going to become overpopulated and we would all starve, and now it has been proven that in some areas of the world the population is decreasing.     Also I would encourage everyone to research on the topic of global warming.

  14. Global warming is real. So is global cooling. They happen in a cycle, just like your body temperature.

The hoax is that humans are responsible for it.

  15. Global Warming IS REAL. It is bad unless... we start doing this:

    Plant more trees

    Carpool

    Drive gas-saving cars (hybrids... etc.)

    Stop littering

    *** RECYCLE***

Walk, run, ride your bike to nearby places instead of cars

********* And there are PLENTY more, I just can't list them all in this TINY box!*********

  16. By steamrolling a bunch of pork for the greenies through the legislature in a hurry, everyone will make a small mint and look like geniuses when the warming trend reverses naturally in the next decade or so.  We'll just lose our freedom and way of life in the process...the ends justify the means, no?  Half of the suckers will feel like they actually made a difference rinsing and recycling their tuna cans.

  17. I say Global Warming is a primped up excuse that the hippies use. The Earths climate is always shifiting. Did the Ice Age be caused by Stone Age factories by the Mammoths? NO! Global WRMING IS SANTA CLAUS.

  18. Those who are uneducated either say that it's natural or that it isn't. Those who are educated say that global warming in itself is natural, but humanity makes it far worse.

And by the way, 'opinion' is exclusive to describing qualitative differences that cannot be measured on a universal scale of 'better' or 'worse,' such as "Which is better: Red or Blue?" because the subject difference is qualitative in a way that is universally indifferent to any meaning of good or bad, making it an opinion. Issues on Global Warming, however, do not fit the criteria for being an opinion.

That second paragraph IS the simple version of what it was meant to say, by the way.

  19. I think that global warming is a real issue that should be a concern to us all now and is only going to get worse, rapidly.

However, I think that people are getting confused by the expanding population, the planets inability to support us, the wiping out of the fish stock, the extinction of flora and fauna, coral bleaching, expanding desert, arctic ice melting, third world debt, poverty and starvation, illeagal logging, multi drug resistant TB, and all the other issues facing humanity and then pushing them all together and labeling it as "global warming". Some of these issues are a result of man made Global Warming and some are the result of 6.6 BILLION people destroying the environment.

And then they see the problem as to big to start fixing, so, therefore there is no point to do anything about it as no one else is, etc. However all these issues could be broken down and we ,collectively, could go someway to solving them. However, unfortunately, we are human and historically, when ever there has been a time to band together for the good of all, we have choose to bomb, kill, invade, and attack and take what ever we wanted from are neighbors. *Sigh*.

I believe that the AGW debate is over. The proof is there and has been for years. I strongly recommend this movie. http://www.uctv.tv/search-details.asp?sh...
