He lost his AO crown to Djokovic, he was totally overwhelmed by Nadal in the French, what's next for the Swiss?

Wimbledon is coming, Federer seems to be losing his touch in the past few months and he is now is facing two very strong contenders(obviously Nadal and Djokovic). Predictions anyone?

  1. I'd hate to say it, but federer is on the decline

he's never been the same since he had mono earlier this season, and djokovic and nadal are getting sooo much better

i love roger, hes jus not himself though

  2. Rafa should win Wimby and Djokovic should take US Open.

killy gonzo, you were so right about Nadal tactics being exposed. Fed just routed him... or wait did the routing take place the other way round? lol.

  3. C`mon Nadal for wimbledon !!! Vamos Rafa he can do it this year been sooo close last year and he`s an even better play this year. Vamos xxxxxx

  4. FORZA FEDERER!!!!

  5. he will be fine ,he made it to the semifinal down under with a illness ,he has never won against nadal at the french so nothings changed but he peaks every year at wembledon and the us open if he and djokovic at wembledon look for djokovic to be murdered with health fed

  6. Federer will rebound at Wimbledon. I just think that he will be incredibly hungry. Martina Navratilova had a crappy 1987, winning just Wimbledon and the U.S Open and one smaller tourney. I bring that up because it shows a top level player can have a really screwed up year and manage to win majors. Martina at 30 years of age, knocked off a little player by the name of Steffi Graf , for both of those titles. I am not giving up on him just yet.

  7. Federer has 12 grand slams and has been number one for nearly 300 weeks now. What certain people don't get, is that reaching the semis of grandslams is not good enough for him. Federer will not keep on playing if he can no longer win grandslams. He won't wait till he's fallen to #50 to retire. He'll retire as soon as it is clear he can't win grand slams anymore. That's what Justine did. If Federer loses Wimbledon (and I think Nadal will take him out there as well), I don't see Federer continuing.

  8. Federer is 0-7 in major tournaments this year and only won Estoril (a minor tourney) when Davydenko retired. It's clear that Federer's been on a steady decline since last year (before mono) when he was losing to players he's never lost to like Djokovic in Canada and Gonzalez at the tour championships as well as back to back times to Nalbandian and Canas.

There might be some karmic payback happening here to Federer. When he "found out" he had mono he refused to take time off to recover (as he was recommended to do) with Nadal being so close to him in the rankings. Had he taken time off there was a good chance Nadal would've been #1.

Whether he really did have mono or not his larger than life ego played a huge role in his decision to continue playing with mono or announce that he was ill to excuse his slump. Any which way you look at it, it doesn't look good for him.

Although his game isn't what it used to be, Federer has an aura about him that still incites fear in the mentally weaker guys on tour. I still see him making it to the later rounds of tournaments mostly based on what's he's accomplished in the past as well as his ranking. I don't see him winning any major tournaments this year, especially if he has to go through Nadal or Djokovic.

The more he loses and the worse his losses the more that Federer aura dwindles. Losing as badly as he did to Nadal is going to hurt him as the year goes on. Guys are starting to realize now that they have a chance against him.

  9. OK, either most of you hate Fed, love Rafa, or just don't no jack about tennis or Fed, or some or all of the above. But to say Fed's done is just some of the most preposterous c**p I've heard yet. He made semis of the Aussie (while being sick) and made the final of the French for the third year in a row. Countless of other players would kill for results even close to that. Sure it's definitely not been his best year, but I know he'll bounce back, he always does. If anything, it's been more mental than anything as when you've been playing as close to perfect tennis as any human being has ever done the last few years you tend to get a little mentally jaded. But the eye of the tiger will come back eventually. Look for Fed to still be #1 when the year's over. From an avid player and former #1 in the state.

  10. i personally think that FED is losing his touch and its time for him to think over since he never wins any major tournaments this year (he never won a master series and just won a minor ATP clay tour which he never participated before).  He needs to prove to the tennis fans that he is still a force to reckon with and he should win WIMBLEDON.  if he cannot defend his wimby title (if he lost to either to NADAL, DJOKO or RODDICK), then he think of a retirement . This is only my THOUGHTS and OPINIONS.
