I'm curious to know some of your mishaps and horrors from time outs, whether with your own children, someone else's children, Supernanny, or whatever. Thanks in advance for sharing!

  1. I'm a babysitting and for the kids i watch their usually really good for me. the kids ages are 2,4 and 8. The 2 year old has a real nag for saying now, hitting and biting. So the 2 year old started hitting the 4 year old so i said thats it your going in time out. I stuck her in this chair and of course crying her eyes out she just sat there, so 2 minutes I let her go, i sit back on the couch immediatley getting off time out she comes  back to me smacks me dead in the face. Hitting a sibling is one thing but when you hit the authority, oh baby your going to be sitting there for awhile. So i held her and stuck her in a chair in the corner facing the wall and of course kicking and screaming.

Lesson learned shes never hit me again.

  2. Why don't you share one?

  3. This four year old kid I used to babysit, one day, decided to start punching his 2 year old sister as hard as he could. I didn't know what to do and had to seperate them, so I put him in time out in his room while I looked after his sister. I had no idea what else to do, I'm not really good with kids, so I told him to stay there for ten minutes or whatever amount of time I decided on, I don't exactly remember.

I went out in the kitchen to help his sister, who was crying her head off and in pain, and I hear things banging around in his room, so I went to check and he was throwing everything all over his room, and when I went in his threw one of his plastic dinasaurs at me and cut my arm. He then ran out of his room, and went outside and grabbed this plastic sword he had, brought it back inside and started pounding the furnature with it, actually denting the chair legs and backs, then starts smasing this sword into my legs- that thing hurt! So I grabbed it, getting hit in the wrist in the meantime, and so he started punching his sister again, who was crying harder than ever and screaming.

I went and grabbed him around the waist, picked him up, put him in his room, sat with his sister on the other side of the door, helped her, and listened to him throw another fit. Didn't go back in until after he was quiet, and never babysat that boy again. I looked after his sister while he was at school sometimes.

We never ever figured out what caused it, he just took a complete fit that day. I'd watched him before and put him in timeout for various reasons and never had a problem.

  4. the kid wouldn't stay. she just screamed and cont. to get up and throw things and hit me (the babysitter).

    nothing works with that kid.
