Do you have to wear or fly a flag? do you have to buy American, or stop buying oil, or stop buying made in China stuff, or is it just about casting a vote every few years, even if you dont know who's running? Is there a difference between being a citizen and a consumer?

  1. Unfortunately freedom is a birthright here and taken for granted by many. Illegals have the same rights as Americans, even more. I wonder if you had to join the military, or preform some type of public service to become a citizen. If that would make people appreciate our freedom more. Maybe get more then 20% out to vote in elections.

  2. Your only responsibilty is to obey the law.

  3. I don't think you have to wrap yourself in a flag to be patriotic. Some people think they have to have 99 yellow ribbon bumper stickers to be a true American. They don't realize most of them are made in China and profits do not go to the troops.

  4. the answer to your juvenile, snarky little question is to pay taxes. None other.

  5. not only do I support the flag, I stand for it...hand on heart...I do not associate with known terrorist or do I support  a church that is Anti-American and teach 'hate'...support comes from my activity sitting and listening and financial support.  I support the majorities decision, and do not march or riot when I don't get my ways....yes I am American...not an Irish American or Italian American or African American...

  6. What the youth can expect in the years to come will depend on how well they understand and leverage their rights and how willingly and efficiently they are able to shoulder their responsibilities. What then are the rights and responsibilities of the youth of America?

  7. As an American citizen the only responsibility you have is to obey the laws of the land while you go about your pursuit of health wealth and happiness.

You do not have to vote, or fly a flag, you can burn as much oil as you can afford and you can buy Chinese made goods any day of the week..............

Now if you wanted to be a patriotic American, that's a whole different story.

  8. as an American citizen its Ur responsibility to vote every election and to buy only American made products....our country is becoming to dependent on foreign countries products...too many people have fought for the right for us to have this options we have today

  9. What are your responsibilities, as an American, to your country?

-My only responsibility as an American is to respect and protect the constitution, which our own government seems h**l-bent on shredding.

  10. Freedom is a the birthright of all American citizens.

There is a HUGE difference between being a citizen and being a consumer, but unfortunately a lot of the American public and the U.S. government have lost sight of this fact. Their major focus is on the growth of the economy, their incomes, and jobs.

A good consumer is not necessarily a good citizen, though a good citizen ought to be a good consumer.

Your main responsibilities as an American are to EDUCATE yourself about the issues that affect your country, to KNOW who your congressmen are and how they vote, and to VOTE yourself. In other words, to participate in the democratic process. If you don't (and I think the majority of Americans don't) do these things, then you have no real right to complain about the state the nation is in.

I think citizens also have the responsibility to uphold laws, or to change the laws if they are unjust through the democratic process.
