  1. Take advantage of the free selections posted on various handicapping sites. While some are more like laundry lists than selections, a few are maintained by serious racing selectors who are dedicated to giving recreational bettors the benefit of their experience.

You should ONLY make "paper bets" using the selections of a particular source for a few days to assure yourself that the ratings presented are accurate enough and predictive enough to be an acceptable risk in your unique investment situation.

Free race selections are generally available every day at:

    http://www.horseswild.com

    http://ddssratings.com

and others. The two sources listed above often feature "best bets" for a given day or given track, and both feature extensive information on a variety of topics related to horse racing and handicapping. All are free.

  2. Try visiting.....

You'll find a lot of good info there and horse racing system tests with daily updates.

    Hope this helps.

  3. kill the other guy

  4. the exactor and triactor are the best bets if you have 60 to 100 dollars to bet.

If you can't read the drf or program, you might consider an exactor bet, take the top two favorites up top, and the three long shots for second.  That bet will cost you $12 on a $2 bet.  You should get back anywhere from $40. to $90 in an eight horse field.  The closer in odds to the favorites of the other horses will usualy give a higher pay-out.

The triactor bet would be the top two favorites for first and second, and three long shots and two other horses for third.  This cost would be $10. on a $1 bet.  the pay-out would be anywhere from $20 to $200, in field of 10 horses and where the odds are not dispersed by much from the favorites and the long shots are any where from 40 to one and up.   In a field of 6 to eight horses the pay-out is much less, so you might just bet $2 on one of the long shots to come third, the pay-out might only be $4. lol :)

  5. you should really try speaking ot experts. try a community based site, that way you don't get influenced by people who charge tips as it is all free.

  6. My secret is save your money!  It's my strategy for visiting Vegas and AC...so far it's working like a charm.  :)

  7. There are no "secrets" for winning bets on horse racing anymore than there are secrets for investing in the stock market, or for that matter, any other profession. The only secret is years of practice and study.

In casino gambling you are playing against the house and the betting is structured so that you cannot win in the long run.  Pari-mutual betting in horse racing is a form of gambling where skill and intelligence can influence the outcome and is therefore a type of investment. To put it simply, in horse race betting, the winners get to divide the money lost by the losers. it's a zero sum game, except for the takeout of about 14-20%. If you can handicap 14-20% better than than the average bettor, you'll show a profit - period. You're not playing against the track so they don't care who wins and therefore don't structure it so you have to lose. they get their cut in any case.

Handicapping is a difficult challenge but that is the reason it can be profitable. The more you hear about people that are losers, the more money there is for those that are good handicappers and can pick winners.

  8. First, try to find out who's running in advance and what their records are.  Then, find out what type of conditions or track they run best at and compare that to where they are running and what the conditions of the track are the day of the race.  Finally, watch all of the horses as they walk and show them before the race.  Of the horses you are interested in pay particular close attention to their hind quarters (hips and rear legs) the more muscular and defined the hind quarters the more strength and power they are going to have.  Very muscular hind quarters good for shorter races, longer leaner more defined hind quarters are better for longer races.  Good Luck, hope I helped.

  9. My secret is to never bet in the first place and I always break even.

  10. One secret is to never bet on a tip.

I worked for years in the industry, and if I had a dime for every time someone gave me a "sure thing" tip, I'd be a rich rich man. On the other hand if I had a dime for every time a sure thing actually won, I wouldn't have enough to make a $2 bet.
