  1. those kids are bored !!! unless ur kid is cutting wrists or killing things i would not go for meds!!!! diet-things to do like baseball & swimming the same days etccccc

  2. i disagree with it. i believe there are alternatives, such as diet

    and teaching disciplines.

  3. They are so bad (add drugs especially) and if the drug isn't necessary for medical reasons, then I say no. IMHO parents put their adhd children in an altered state (these kids are like zombies) so that they can slack off as parents. These days parents are giving their kids anti biotics like candy and putting their kids in near-sterile environments which may lead to the demise of half-way functional immune system.

  4. For ADHD kids, I would go for ADHD diet and ADHD vitamins first.

  5. If their issue can not be corrected by diet changes, etc...then yes I think children should have what they need to be successful. I have seen students that really didnt need it and students that absolutely needed them to be successful.  Each case is individual and the choice to mediate or not to is as well.

  6. As a teacher, I've seen it work very well, and I've seen it work not-so-well.  Every child is different.  I would try a strict home routine first followed by diet, and if that doesn't work, then carefully consider prescript drugs.  Get a second opinion, preferably from a neurologist and not just from a pediatrician.  And no, it doesn't turn kids in zombies - in fact, I've seen kids do better in school, make friends, and their self-confidence rise after they've been on the right meds and dose for them.  Sure the meds have been over-prescribed in some cases, but every child will react differently.

  7. the child isnt doing anything WRONG when they act this way. medication will help them with something they cannot control, its the way their body is, their brain their actions are not a choice. if they are naturally hyper and it is effecting more than just family life but school and social aspects its tim e to talk to a psych. or doc. about ways to help/treat..!

  8. ADHD is a crutch in my opinion.  Not to sound like a crotchity old man, but back in my day, they called it just plain Hyper.  There was no behavior altering drungs, we sat on our hands.  Kids are kids, they don't like to sit still.  To label so many of them with a "disorder" has become more of a fashion statement than anything else.  Now can the drugs help in severe cases, yes, but when you are altering a child's brain what ramifications are there later in life?  Ask yourself, before ridelin (sp? and I'm sorry) did children survive and flourish in school?  For the most part, yes.  Now, with such a large percentage of children diagnosed with "ADHD" is it necessary for all?  Definately not, extreme cases only.
