  1. I didn't like this choice at first, but it's a way to prevent something else horrible for the time being. It's a great measure but now it kind of sacrifices what drag racing is about and going a quarter mile. The sad thing is, by them doing this it shows that they have no clue on where to go or what to do. They can't find any solution so they got desperate. I believe that there should be track specific rules adjusted to the length of the shutdown area, IMHO.

  2. My feelings are that it is a step in the right direction. Cars traveling at way less than 300mph can be stopped a lot quicker but when it comes to Top Fuel or Nitro cars, they need a lot of room. I remember the time when they said 300mph wouldn't be reached. It happened and maybe it is time to slow them down just a little. I do not want to see anymore drivers killed.

    RIP Scotty :(

  3. I think it's a good first step. It can be done with a minimal cost. It serves the purpose of slowing the cars and giving them more time to stop. This also gives NHRA and PRO time to make other adjustments to make the sport safer. It all comes down to safety. The dollars and land are just not there to lengthen every track they run. Something else needs to be done. we have lost too many good drivers.

  4. I thought it was a knee jerk reaction at first but now I think it's a good thing. I would rather see them do that than limit the cars horsepower or something. That's the important thing.

They'll continue to look at new safety features too.

Lengthening every track across America is just not feasible.

If you go to any track on a Saturday night you'll find 7, 8 and 9 second Super-Pro car's running the 1/8th mile so I'm fine with the 1000' foot line for Top Fuel and Funny Cars.

  5. I thimk it,s a temporary thing...Until they can come up with something better...Hey,lets do what nascar does....Make all the cars equal and put restrictor plates on them!!!Great huh!!!NOT!!!!!I need the full 1/4 mile!!!!!!

  6. I think it is very good safety and racing wise... the racing will just be more competitive because they don't have all that real estate they used too... but of course drivers and crew chief all had their options on this at Denver some were for it some against it.... if they stick to 1000 ft and or lengthen the tracks and go back to 1320 that would be great but a lot of driver and crew chiefs were saying slow them down.... guess we'll just have to wait and see it wasn't as much of a difference as I thought it was going to be...
