What are your thoughts about ordering fish on Sundays?

Some say it's not a good idea because restaurants supposedly can't receive seafood shipments then. Is that the case even at better restaurants?

  1. My thoughts? Well, if I feel like fish I order fish; if I don't feel like fish, I don't order fish.

Works every time; any day of the week!

  2. I saw a news segment about this once.  I believe the found that you were more likely to get fresh fish at some of the upscale restaurants, but even a few of those had older fish.  I would suggest asking when the shipment came in (if you trust the restaurant not to lie).

  3. Ask the waitstaff if it is fresh or frozen. They will usually tell you. Even on Mondays they may be trying to get rid of the Friday fish delivery, especially if it was previously steaked and not whole. Lots of seafood comes out of a jar or is frozen (oysters and shrimp, for example).

This is not much different than buying it at the grocery store and then not getting around to cooking it for a couple of days.

If you order something and it is not to you satisfaction, you have the option of complaining or sending it back. It's your money; do what is best for you.

  4. i get a filet o fish all the time

  5. sundays fish is most likely left over from friday so i wouldn't get it. they dont get shipments on the weekends so they order fish for friday to last till monday.
