  1. There is actually legislation being presented to allow soldiers being stop-lossed to receive a huge bonus in pay. My thought on that is that it will open up a can of worms and all the soldiers that have previously been stopp-lossed would want their money too. The better solution to the problem would be to increase pay across the board to make the Army more inviting to new recruits and to those already there, thus ending the need. Folks are a lot happier doing what they want to do when they want to do it.

  2. **** happens.

  3. It's a hardship for members of the services, but it may be necessary. They're are aware of 'stop loss' before they enlist and know and understand that it's a possibility. Still, it's got to be terribly frustrating for them and their families.

Life is tough for soldiers - they deserve our respect and unending thanks!

  4. it sucks.  i guess it's needed, but it blows when it happens to you.

  5. Its not that big of a deal deployments are only about 12 months as soon as you return your out

  6. It's not AMERICA's stop-loss policy.  It's the US Army's.  What the movie probably didn't bother to state, in keeping with its political viewpoint, is the military is a: all volunteer and b: professional.  This is what we DO.

Exactly right:  if you don't want to do it, don't sign the contract.  The movie also probably didn't state that retention is an all-time HIGH with the US Army combat arms branches.

Amazing, what Hollywood doesn't tell one.

  7. It's in the friggin contract. Don't sign if you don't want to abide by it, just like any other contract. That movie "Stop Loss" is ridiculous, maybe next time people will read their contracts and know what they're getting into.
