What are your thoughts on David Reutimann?

Question

I think he's a driver who's potential is being hidden by driving some of the crappiest cars in the series.

How about you?

I like Reut.  I think he is a decent driver and a good person.  I would like to see him win but I doubt it will happen if he stays with Waltrip.  However, there are not that many really good teams with openings for drivers so better he driver for MWR than to be stuck with no ride like Stremme - someone who is another underestimated driver.

I really think his career will suffer if he stays at MWR when his contract runs out.  I think he has the talent to be a top 20 guy but he is stuck in a below 30th car.  Too many people have better cars for him to compete.

oh wow just how many drivers are there who are being held out by crappy teams?

Dale Jr. was probably one of them before he went to Hendrick, and even at DEI, probably the worst "top" team if you can still call it a top team, he gets 17 wins.

My point is that there will always be great drivers who don't get to race well due to their teams. That's why we have a Silly Season.

However, I don't think Reutimann would fare any better at another team.

I know David and his family. We're from the same town...He was a smokin hot driver on the local tracks like he is in the Nationwide series..He isn't so happy with his crew in the cup series though..so I've heard. By the way,his brother did a great repair job on my car. He has a garage and body shop here.

I couldn't agree with you more.  He is a great driver and he really got screwed earlier this year when they would not let him keep his points when he switched to the 44 car.  If he were to be the 4th driver at say an RCR or the 3rd at JGR, the rest of the field better look out.  I wonder what will happen with Mikey and Chip next year, there are rumors they are going to merge?

Been a fan of him for few years now.  I waould love to see hime get a ride with RCR.  Get him out of MWR and youll see his potental.

He has a lot of potential, with the right team behind him he could be very competitive.
