  1. Shocking Choice by John McCain

WASHINGTON-- Senator John McCain just announced his choice for running mate:  Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska.  To follow is a statement by Rodger Schlickeisen, president of Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund.

“Senator McCain’s choice for a running mate is beyond belief. By choosing Sarah Palin, McCain has clearly made a decision to continue the Bush legacy of destructive environmental policies.

“Sarah Palin, whose husband works for BP (formerly British Petroleum), has repeatedly put special interests first when it comes to the environment. In her scant two years as governor, she has lobbied aggressively to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling, pushed for more drilling off of Alaska’s coasts, and put special interests above science. Ms. Palin has made it clear through her actions that she is unwilling to do even as much as the Bush administration to address the impacts of global warming. Her most recent effort has been to sue the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to remove the polar bear from the endangered species list, putting Big Oil before sound science. As unbelievable as this may sound, this actually puts her to the right of the Bush administration.

“This is Senator McCain’s first significant choice in building his executive team and it’s a bad one. It has to raise serious doubts in the minds of voters about John McCain’s commitment to conservation, to addressing the impacts of global warming and to ensuring our country ends its dependency on oil.”

And by the way, most supporters of Hillary Clinton are not bitter any more. After seeing the good grace with which she endorsed Obama, they will follow her example. Only the idiots among them will switch to McCain/Palin.

  2. think he should have picked romney over her he has more experience than her in inconamy and world affairs and thats what we need the most obama is more experince than her  so who know he could get more of the women voters that he needs but also can hurt him for her lack of experience and make the romney supporters that did support mccain change there minds so time will tell i guess

  3. McBush/MsDimwit ticket

  4. Love it! Thanks McCain for ensuring Obama will be the nation's next President.

  5. I am for Obama, but I can see what McCain is trying to do here:

    1.   Having Palin on the ticket might shine a bright, continual spotlight on Obama's lack of experience.  McCain's campaign may continually state that Palin has more actual leadership experience than Obama!

    2.  Palin adds some celebrity status (first woman VP) to McCain's ticket.  The public seems so in awe of the possibility of seeing the first Black president that they overlook many of Obama's shortcomings.  Perhaps the public will also become excited about the first woman VP to the point where some of McCain's weaknesses are ignored.

Very interesting strategy by McCain; she can't bring in money, blue states, or experience, but she might bring excitement, hope, and buzz.

  6. I agree with you. However, I think it has better odds of being a very good thing.

  7. I change you don´t need to believe but you can see right here and right now

  8. Excellent choice.  It's a reverse of Obama's ticket.

The more experience one (McCain) takes the helm, the VP compliments the president.  Whiel Obama & Biden are reversed.

They truly re-energize their base today and they will run like true reformers.

I am a former Hillary supporter who's socially liberal and fiscally conservative.  My fiscally conservative side of me truly wins out in this election and I'm esctatic to learn that Sarah is not only a reformer, but she's a fiscal hawk, a true fiscal conservative.

For the first time, I am truly excited about McCain lol.

  9. She is a t**d. A total piece of c**p.

  10. I'm insulted.

He chose a woman to try and gain Hiliary supporters.  He does not realize that Hiliary supporters supported Hiliary because she is Hilary and not because she's a woman.

If he wanted to choose a woman, I'd be more impressed if he'd chosen Ms. Rice.

  11. I hoped that McCain would surprise us and choose Palin.  She is the best choice because she fights government corruption and is a Washington-outsider.  The fact that she's a woman is great too.

  12. i really dont think sarah pulin is a good choice. does she really seem like she could run the country? i think mccain just chose her to get the hilary and pro life voters.

  13. she's a MILF, good enough

    makes politics more interesting

  14. its a total act of a desprate man, that is assured to lose the election now that he has whats-her-face as his VP choice

oh yeah, im voting obama if you couldnt tell

  15. Well if Hillary supporters are going to switch to McCain now just because the VP is female, that shows they really were not supporting Hillary policies in the first place.  It is a gender vote for them, like it is a race vote for some black voters who are voting for Obama because of his racial background.

This could backfire for McCain as there are some voters that do not like women and could see this as a weakness in the party.

Apparently the VP has less than 2 years experience as a senator too so the anti-obama camp can't say Obama " lacks experience" anymore when they have a inexperienced VP who could be the President.

It may seem unlikely but McCain is 73. He could die anytime and then America will be run by a 44 year old Alaskan woman who we really know nothing about.

Now that is scarrier than Obama

  16. I think its all for the women votes, he is playing the game. I dont think it will help him much. He still has c**p ideas

  17. He only chose Palin for the womens votes.  Its obvious

  18. I'm surprised.

  19. The initial reaction was good for him, doing something this unexpected took some of the wind out of Obama's sails after his stellar speech.  However, I think Palin will get a can of whoop *** opened on her by Biden at the debates, he pulls no punches.  Time will tell.

  20. I think it is an inspired choice and the Dems got nailed on that one.  And nobody say a word about her experience she has more than Obama

  21. Sarah Palin is a beautiful woman.   It is easy to see why McCain tapped her.

Mitt Romney has the Mormon Magic Underwear which might have gotten so miraculous votes.  But tapping Palin is something that McCain coulnd't resist.

  22. I too was shocked.  I think thats what he was going for.  How else is anyone supposed to pay attention to the elderly in Washington?

  23. McCain showed poor judgement.  He went for the shock value instead of putting America first.

  24. The real target of this pick isn't liberal women.  McCain could have picked Hillary and he still wouldn't have gotten many of them.  Social conservatives, business owners, soccer moms, gun owners, and blue collar workers are the targets of this choice.

The Democrats had their convention this week and I would still score this week a win for McCain.
