  1. Genetic testing of humans is a double edged sword.  On the positive side, it may improve the health of the person being tested by showing a propensity for future disease that can be prevented or by showing sensitivities to particular drugs needed in treatment of disease.

    On the negative side, it may promote discrimination against people with certain genetic markers.  The discrimination could come from any direction, but it would be particularly bad if it came from health insurers.   A new law came into effect that prohibits discrimination based on genetics, but I want to see if it really prevents the insurance industry from refusing coverage based on genes or their effects.

  5. In what regard? Are you saying to look for disease markers? To assess for risks before have a child with someone? To be a part of your medical record?

  6. is the testing for genetic markers for disease? cures for diseases? research of Genome? you need to be more specific.
