  1. Any branch of the military can be a hard yet rewarding life's choice. Especially if you are married. If you join, be prepared to not only be deployed, but move around a lot, the average time at one base is about 3 years. Be prepared not to necessarily get agree with some of your superiors decisions, or ways of going about things.

I'm assuming your single... my recommendation to you is have fun, but don't be stupid, you can and do get reprimanded by the military for mistakes made in down time.

Being  "suck- up" does get you places. I wouldn't recommend being annoying about it, but when push comes to shove- a soldier that has proven himself to his superiors does have an easier time advancing ones own career.

A steady paycheck is nice, but the pay isnt the greatest when your single (and still isnt when your married). Be smart and save... I've seen to many soldiers p**s away their pay check on a weekend of drinking.

If your thinking of joining up for the "action" aspect of the military... you may or may not find what you were looking for. War changes you.  Ask any soldier who has been deployed, there are things that they do... not necessarily regret, but wish they never would of seen... or had to pull the trigger for.

Joining the military can prove to be a really rewarding career path for some individuals, but it isnt for everybody. When you do talk to recruitment, make sure you get everything you want out of the situation... whether its a signing bonus, to making sure you have your GI Bill in order... Joining the military to some degree needs to be looked at as a money making opportunity... just make sure the recruiter has your best interests in mind and are just not trying to make a quota.

I would suggest narrowing down your choice of military branch. IE: Air Force, Marines, or Army and once you have, sit down and talk to soldiers... they will tell you details that recruiters will not.

    Good Luck!

  2. If I could become 19 again, I would gladly join and serve another 20 plus years.

Last time I went Navy, just for a change this time I would go Marines or Army.

  3. I say it's really up to you and your goals in life. For me it was the perfect fit. I was in college playing baseball and after 2 yrs I really got tired of the whole school thing. I had always been interested in military service due to my uncle and grandfather's stories. I visited with each branch they all promissed many different life styles and opportunities but in the end I decided to join the Army. Knowing what I know now I really could'nt be happier with that choice. I've been in for 5 years now, I've made it to the rank of SSG/E-6 and look forward to the next 15 yrs of my career. It's worth more than you'll ever know or understand, until you do it you'll just develop opinions, not facts. Hope this helps.

  4. I'm taking my ASVAB test next week i'm joining the marines. SEMPER FI!

  5. At this moment? Probably a bad idea.

I did basic military training and stayed on for six months after. I hated it. The military is for people who like being told what to do and have decisions made for them.

  6. You should check out all the branches and gather all the information you can.  Make a pros and cons list and decide the number one reason for joining and when you make up your mind go for it.  Unlike the few people who have already answered you I have been in for 15 years and haven't regretted it at all.  I didn't do it for the money or because I didn't have options or because I needed an attitude adjustment.  I just needed something more than college was giving me at the time.  Everything you do in life is what you make of it.  If you always find the negative in everything and let people persuade you to take on their opinion then you will think that way about everything most of the time.  However, if you try to find the good in most things you do then you will be fine.  Go for it you are young and can make a good life for yourself.

    Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. yes its worth it because if you stay a civilian all your life you will have to work a full time job pay your own medical etc if your a soldier the military takes care of there own make a career out of it and do the 20 yrs you will retire young and you will be more respected from your fellow amercans  so go get em boy  good luck remember the military is not for everyone

  8. How much do you value your life? Are they offering any where even close to that figure to stick your neck out for them? It sure looks like a losing proposition to me!

  9. People ask me that all the time, its my favorite question: The military isnt for everyone, it can be frustrating at times and unfortunatly you cant just get up and quit. The pay isnt that great but the benefits and the friends you make are worth it. I love it, Im going on 8 years as a Marine and I have NO regrets. Its my life, all I know. I joined right out of high school. Some people cant handle the stress of being told what to do but that is the whole purpose of your rank structure other wise everyone will just fall apart. But like I said Ive been thru the people telling me what to do, to me telling people what to do thats just the way of life. But in the end its a great feeling knowing Im doing something for me, my family and my country. NO REGRETS.

  10. Do it.  There's nothing more honorable than serving your country.

  11. Do it.

    It's worth it.

  12. It has a lot to do with you. What kind of person are you? What are your likes and dislikes? The military is not bad. It is actually a very easy job a majority of the time. Obviouvsly this has a lot to do with rank. That can be easy to obtain as well. You have to look at where you want to go in life or career aspirations. It can be a good way to grow up or get some college as well and se the world. Or also be a career.

  13. Yep, joining the USMC when I'm eligible.

  14. It's worth it if you don't have any better options

Which unfortunately is the case for too many kids these days.

  15. The military is a great place for young adults going from their homes to the real world. It will help them make the transition to adults, and is a great idea if you wanna get fit and do something meaningful. also, joining the military also helps you when looking for a job as it is a great looking thing on a resume.

  16. I joined the marine corp and couldn't be happier with my decision i had my option of a full ride at MU and i turned it down for the corp and think its the best. Its not just for people who like being told what to do if u think that then ur just a p***y. Its for people who want something in life and wants to be the best
