You know, the 17-year old boy who's head got cut off...

Here's a link if you didn't hear about it yet;

  1. I do feel bad for the boy's family...but I just don't see why anyone would risk their life for a hat.  I know teenagers think nothing bad can happen to them, and don't think through the possible consequences...it's just sad that such a useless tragedy had to happen.  I know someone said it would make you think twice about going to Six Flags...now I don't understand that at all.  Six Flags is in no way responsible.  It was not a malfunction of any ride or safety equipment.  It was just human stupidity.  All rides tell you to remove loose items before riding, which had he done, he wouldn't have lost his hat to begin with.  Then 2 security fences had to be climbed...I am wondering if when he was looking for his hat, if he saw the ride coming and did try to stand up and touch it...or if he was oblivious to the ride coming.  Either way it doesn't matter...yes it was stupid, and I do hope this makes other people aware of staying out of restricted areas...but the tragedy and pain his family is feeling could have been avoided...it's just such a sad incident.

  2. omg. wow 6 flags is like unsafe!!! && I do think it is 6 flags fault.! If their lunches weren't over priced($13.something for chicken fingers and fries!!!) then the boys wouldn't have left in the first place. kay. maybe it wasn't 6 flags fault but yeah.. thats crazy!!! Even a couple workers were killed there. doesn't that say anything about it? I dont think 6 flags is safe at alll!!! lol

  3. Sad, yes.  But it wasn't an accident caused by negligence from the park this time (think back to last year with Kaitlyn Lassiter getting her feet cut off), but rather out of stupidity over recovering a stupid hat.  I feel bad for the family (the parents were at the park when it happened), but I feel even worse for the park.  Six Flags hasn't had the best of luck in the last few years, and this is the last bit of publicity they need, even if it wasn't their fault.

  4. Nothing is 100% idiot-proof.  Some idiots seem to have a perverse genius for "accidental" self-destruction and you just can't stop them.

  5. I think there are two ways to look at this tragedy. The teenager was careless and it cost him his life. He climbed over two six foot fences for a stupid hat. I don't know if it was a dare or what but I can't fathom someone thinking it would be okay to try and do something like that. It seems that us humans think we are invincible. Just goes to show we're not.

    However, I have heard of many different accidents/incidents at this particular park. It appears the park is ran by teens who show little if any interest in what their actual job intails. When I went to the California park I went on Superman and no attendant even did a seatbelt check.

    I know bad things have happened at Disney BUT I have never seen carelessness like I did at Six Flags.

  6. Very unfortunate.  And even though this isn't Six Flags' fault, I still think they're cursed or something.  Too many accidents there.  Which is why I'd rather go to King's Dominion.
