Question:

What are your thoughts on the donated Madeleine fund running dry?

"The cost of employing the agency - run by a Briton, Kevin Halligen - has drained the Madeleine fund and there is now less than £500,000 left."

So basically the only monies left are from the out of court newspaper settlement.

All the publicly donated money has GONE.

All the money donated by school children, OAPs and generous members of the public has been spent.

I think this is really sad as this money was heartfeltly donated to find Madeleine.

End result?

Still missing.

Where has all that money gone?

  1. Well, slightly different response, but as somebody on this site pointed out, quite a lot of Portuguese children go missing every year, and none of them make the papers.

  2. As Sir says, their mortgage is most probably paid off by now.

  3. It has all gone on paying off their debts such as mortgage etc. Very little has gone on what they conned the public into paying for which is to find Maddie.

  4. It's easy to spend money that's not yours but sinful when it is all a complete waste and conniving attempt to no avail but to fool the gullible. Nothing is printed in the biased UK press unless it is for the benefit of the Mc's, so this is probably another sickening attempt to get the begging bowl out. Hopefully the public are seeing through all the spin and lies and won't feed their sick charade anymore and with a bit of look the rich fools will to... Maybe that's why the McConn's didn't want their financial records seen, as it might have shown a few debts that needed paying! The public should demand to know where all the funding has gone but I wonder who the auditors will be!

Edit: Definitely Delly, we can be certain of one thing and that is everything is carefully planned to their advantage and they need the begging bowl to cover their deceitful expenditure and divert attention from the reality of their endless charade. I wonder what September will bring?

  5. Although sounding harsh, I couldn't care less, it's been her parents own fault from the start. I agree they probably have paid off their mortgage, besides they have two other kids to worry about.

  6. Oh no...now Gerry and Kate wont be able to take that latest vacation to some ultra exclusive resort for the rich. Lets all open our wallets for them.

  7. more sightings to follow, with more pleas for more money to help find margaret,,, erm madeline,

i doubt very much that those 2 mortgage payments were the bog standard monthly amounts,

i also notice that the amount of money said to be left, nearly always is 500k, it was about this much last year, they also dont mention the interest gained

  8. After that, how can anyone trust them?

  9. Hey Delly, it is not that the money has been spent that surprises me but the fact that not one but TWO fly by night so called detective agencies have been employed to look for Madeleine.

I find incomprehensible that BOTH the fund managers AND Mr. Kennedy could have been duped twice.

  10. plus ca change

  11. I think the money could have better been spent on teaching parents how to look after their children!

  12. It doesn't surprise me that the money has nearly gone, what would be interesting to see is the breakdown on expenditure, has any lump sum been paid off the Mccann's mortgage?

I also believe there to be a collusion of interests between the "Detective Agencies" and the Mccann's (+ Clarence) These so called Agencies fleece the fund (paid for by the public) and the Mccann's get to masquerade as parents of an abducted child, all terribly convenient to all parties.

My only hope? That enough people have seen through this obnoxious couple and their hangers on, and that no more donations will be forthcoming, although the monies received from Newspapers and magazines should keep the deception going.

  13. I have no views on it, "Dellyxx" except that I find it so disturbing that little Madeleine, the only innocent party in all this saga, is still missing.

It is reasonable to resume she is dead. The consolation for me is that her little body may be somewhere in Portugal, which is a lovely country and is, as some Portuguese writer said (can't remember his name) Portugal is a little beautiful garden by the sea (the Atlantic). So if she has passed away,  she is resting in the most beautiful place on Earth. That is my only consolation.

  14. I just love it when I read these clever ***** spouting of things that they know nothing about. Paying off the mortgage. Don't make me laugh. They were given, as you all well know , 2 months payments as they both were unable to work for 4 months as they were in Portugal. As you all well know its the directors of the fund who decides who gets what and not the McCanns.  They both have now been released as suspects, have NOT been charged by social services and yet still get crucified by a hate ,lynch mob on here who have nothing better to do with their time. Now reach for the thumbs down button. I love it .wow 18 thats nearly a record for me .Keep them coming.

  15. Oh dear, they complain about criticism, but as soon as they took money from the general public they opened themselves to the kind of scrutiny and criticism they clearly don't want. They should never have asked for donations, then they would not need to be accountable.

  16. Are you joking? Where has all the monies disappeared to? Have they paid off their mortgage?

    ||edit|| Michael W when they were in Portugal they were both on full salaried leave and living and eating free from well-wishers. Why delve into the fund unless it was for lump sum payments to clear the mortgage?

  17. The sad thing is that so many people were duped into donating to the fund in the first place, thinking that it was a charity. The fund is no such thing; it is a private limited company under no obligation to disclose its income and expenditure to the public. One of its objectives is to support Gerry and Kate McCann financially and I find this very disturbing considering that the McCanns are, relative to the average British family, very wealthy. There is little evidence that the McCanns have made any financial sacrifices at all. Kate has given up her part-time GP job to "work full time on the campaign", and no doubt she's being paid by the fund for doing this....for what salary, I wonder? The amount she would have earned as a GP, say £80,000 a year? If so it's not surprising that the fund isn't transparent.

Michael W, as usual, tries to defend the indefensible. I wonder how much money, if anything, he donated to the fund? If I had given any money I would feel aggrieved that most of it had been frittered away on expenses with nothing to show for it.

  18. I think it was a hideous campaign anyway.

Lots of children go missing all the time. Every single case is as tragic and horrendous as the next, yet Madeline is cute and white, and her parents are educated and middle class. Suddenly, her case becomes more important. Go figure.

"Mummy, why didn't you come when I was crying last night?"- a few of Madeline's last words to her mother.

  19. i read that much had been spent on private investigators

i think the mccanns now have other ways of making big cash sums so the fund has served its purpose

and as for clever ***** spouting off .... why does our resident expert think he knows so much more than everyone else? he seems eager to dismiss opinions contrary to his own and laughs when people repeat what they have heard or read .....just where does HE get his info .....a hot line to K and G?

  20. To be honest I don't really think about it ,However It was going to happen sooner or later a lot of wasted money I think the rest would be used more wisely if given to a children's charity who specialise in finding all lost and missing children.

  21. They are just trying to find the child they lost. People donated money they were forced to do it. They have spent the money on looking for her. Get over it.

    Michael W - I agree with you.

  22. the whole thing upsets me, i have cried about it in the past,i have a 5 year old daughter who looks just like her
