  1. As a productive person, that sounds downright scary.  However, with Bush turning on the spending spigot and not saying nyet to any pork barrel nonsense that came his way, I don't think I would fare any better under a filibuster proof majority for McClown and the boys.

  2. I think it's great.  Maybe something will actually get done about things other then flag burning and g*y marriage.

  3. Yes, the thought of a productive Congress is truly frightening. Something might actually gety done.

The U.S. is NOT in decline and its demise will not occur.

Anyone with any political experience knows that the Bush administration has pushed our government into the realm of the radical right, and that an adjustment to recenter it is a healthy one.

The neocons are just gonna have to suck it up.

  4. I think it will be their one last chance to put up or shut up with a progressive agenda. If they continue down this corporatist path i'll lose faith in them forever.

  5. Not going to happen. The approval rating of current Congress is ample evidence that they have squandered all goodwill they had going into the last mid-term election. I don't know who will actually control the majority after the next election, but I can tell you without reservation that neither party will have a bullet-proof majority.

  6. The Democrat party will have a supermajority in the U.S. Senate, the most progressive President ever, and the probable opportunity to name three permanent members of the U.S. Supreme Court.  I'll believe it when I see it.

  7. It happened in the past, and the country survived.

I am just thankful that if it happens, it should only be for two years. Then 1/3 of the Senate will be up for reelection, and (hopefully) the American public would have learned their lesson.

  8. Re Brian above

It wouldn't matter who the Pres was

    they could override any veto

It is the equivalent of turning your home over to a pair of 4 year olds

they would burn it down within the week

I am convinced it would lead to the downfall of the Republic

    these people are totally nuts

  9. not gonna happen. their gonna have problems hanging on to the seats they have now.

  10. I'm a supporter of not having the same party in control of both segments of the government. If the Dems do take both we could see some negative legislation passing. Esp with Obama who appears capable of changing direction often.

  11. Unlikely as that is, I don't see it as the demise of America.  Worst case scenario most everything that Democrats want pass through the Senate.  Big deal.  That was the way it was for Republicans at the beginning of this administration, and while that harmed America it wasn't its demise.

  12. slykitty has it right. Demise of America? Are you even taking yourself seriously? You are your own proof that Republican elected leaders rule their party by fear. What does it feel like to be afraid of "the liberal". Do you have trouble falling asleep at night because "a liberal" might be under the bed, waiting to take all your money? Christ almighty. I have no idea why I come to this site. Idiots everwhere!

  13. You are a drama queen....  "the demise of America" will not happen because the Democrats are in charge.  You might actually find that your life has improved and so has the US economy.

  14. It is frightening especially if Obama manages to get into office..

  15. I think that would be extremely scary for all hard-working, tax-paying Americans.
