I know- this isn't religion and spirituality, but these passages are about parenting, and I'm curious about what people think of this Old Testament parenting advice.

Proverbs 3:12 says, "For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth."

Proverbs 13:24 says, "He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes."

(This is from the KJV version, so the vocabulary and grammar may not be what you're used to.)

  3. Discipline your kids - my thoughts - spank that bum!!

  4. Those two verses are some of the good reasons I follow the Bible as a parenting guide and for life lessons as a Christian.  And religious or not, anyone could take those verses to heart and apply them to their parenting because those are awesome words of wisdom.

I'm used to the New King James Bible, but the King James version is just as well.  :)  Thanks for the scriptures.

  5. My momma beat the h**l out of me with a wooden spoon. I ain't in jail yet.
