This is a 4-part story on Sheriff Arpaio and his office, regarding illegal immigrants. Does he seem to be doing his job, or is he going overboard? Thanks for your answers....

  1. We need more like him. He has a "No BS" attitude towards his job and gets it done. Don't know what he is like to work under, but he strikes me as firm but fair with his Deputies.

Unlike the poster above who believes that there are "Innocent" people in there. I'm sure they claim to be, but Tent City is set up for sentenced Inmates. Meaning, they've been convicted in Court.

Him spending a night in Tent City was just to make a point that he was willing to do it. It doesn't matter that he was protected by his Deputies. His main point was why should he have to? The Inmates are there for a reason, they committed a crime! Why should the tax payers have to pay to keep them comfy?

I agree with his stance on dealing with Illegal aliens. If they come here illegally and commit crimes as well, throw them out and back to where they came from! Save the spot for somone who does it legally. Ultimately, the Federal Govt. is not doing the job of border enforcement, his solution is to assume that responsibility on the local level.

It seems to drive his critics in the Media crazy that he keeps getting re-elected everytime.

  2. He's a big windbag.

  3. Arapaio should have to live in his prison for one day. There are people there that aren't guilty.

  4. It's good to see that someone is doing something about it.  The problem here is that this is a problem created by a failure of the federal government to enforce federal law and protect our borders, and local law enforcement are the ones left holding the bag on how to deal with it.  Since local & federal law do not provide for any way to allow local law enforcement agencies to arrest these illegals for their immigration status, administrators must come up with ways to apply local laws in an effort to combat the problem.

This is particularly urgent because of a recent surge of violence along the US/Mexico border at the hands of drug cartels in Mexico that have paid off members of the national police and the Mexican Army.  Murders, kidnappings, beheadings, and similar horrors are becoming the norm in border cities on both side of the border.  Recently in early June, a group of 8 Mexican nationals committed a home-invasion murder in Phoenix, and it is believed that some if not all are members of the Mexican Army and were armed with military weapons.  In other words, members of the Mexican military invaded the US in order to carry out a drug related murder.  Heard of it in the news?  Didn't think so...

The point here is that nobody on the federal level is dealing with this issue and it is quickly growing out of control. The head of Mexican Intelligence also recently made a statement that the Mexican government is in danger of collapse due to the influence of drug cartels in the country.  Our border is a joke and our Border Patrol agents are punished for doing their jobs ala Ramos and Compean.  It's time for Americans to start holding Washington accountable.  This has nothing to do with xenophobia or racism, but national security and survival.
