Investigators for California's state fire agency say a power line faulted more than three hours before sparking the largest of last fall's devastating wildfires in San Diego.

According to a damage report released Wednesday by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, the line was arcing about 56 feet away from where the Witch Fire started in the mountains of northeastern San Diego County.

San Diego Gas and Electric, which operates the power line, reported the first fault at 8:53 a.m. on Oct. 21. The Witch Fire was reported at 12:35 p.m., 12 minutes after the line faulted again. The fire destroyed more than 1,100 homes and killed two people who were trapped inside their home.

If lawsuits go against SDG&E, will our utility bills be even more increased?
