Question:

What are your thoughts when someone says this?

Ok I won't go into all the details but he says he doesn't particularly want to catch up with me / be around me when he is the cause of what is making me sad.

Yes I know he could solve the actual problem but it is a little complicated (he is working on it). He says he is fine to be around me if I am sad and he is not the cause.

Does anyone have any insight into this behaviour / experience / opinions / is it a warning sign of some kind? (psychologically, I mean...not of breaking up!)

  1. he too depressed but likes you so much ( hard when your depressed) that he doesn't want to make you depressed or fearful he might hurt himself, so its for your own good

  2. I'm kinda like that, in that I hate making people sad, and if I do then I can't be around that... I don't think that it is a psychological issue... In other words; he doesn't want to be the cause of your pain. I think that if it hurts you more when he does this, then you should talk to him about it, and maybe help him out with it. Try not to be so sensitive when he makes remarks (if that's what causes it...i don't know.) just tell him that what he said hurt your feelings, and then deal with the issue while it's out there. Then move on... Now...If he hits you... Then he has a problem, and you should leave that guy because you deserve better than that.

  3. it could be a 'warning' sign that you are too intense and he can't handle that .... can you not just relax around him and just be friends for now?  All this 'problem' will seem much easier if you just give it more room and use some patience.....
