What are your thoughts when you hear the word terrier?

I think Miniature Pinscher which I have owned and rescued for 20 years.  Happy hunters, Stubborn, Intelligent and very loving.

Just kidding.  I think of feisty, intelligent, strong willed dogs.

While growing up, I thought terriers were like my aunt's two Toy Terriers. They were all that I knew.

After learning of so many types of terriers, my image was of a scruffy, gung-ho, fearless dog, under 20 pounds.

However, now, if you do a search for 'terrier' on petfinder, most are APBT or JRT, so the image is changing.

I have a little scruffy, Benji-type terrier mix. I wish they were all as fun, brave and obedient as she is.

An old medieval hunting scene with lots of terriers "tearing' about and barking. Dunno, maybe I'm too much of a book worm.

I had a great old Jack Russel at one point, so I always think of him.

I think of a little yapper who likes to get attention and likes to dig waaaay to much. Then I think of far back in time when nobles would go on "the hunt" lol.

a small lively dog belonging to any of the breeds originally developed to hunt animals living in underground burrows, but are now common as pets.

thats what i think of whenever i hear the word "Terrier".

A fierce little dog with loads of love, bundles of energy, prefers one owner to the other and has a 'Napoleonic' complex :)  

Has a coat that is less allergenic then others.

And lastly will remain playful long into his elder years.
