  1. Werribee Zoo

    Melbourne Zoo

    Healsville Sanctuary

    Hanging rock

    The You Yangs

    and a bit further out.

    Yarra Valley

    Geelong & the surf Coast

    Great Ocean Road

    Anakie gorge

    Philip Island

    Western Port Bay

    Lakes entrance

    90 mile beach

    High country

    lake Eildon

    Mt Bulla

  2. Definatly the zoo, Hands down the best attraction

  3. On my "must sees" in the 'greater Melbourne' area is definitely the chairlift at Arthur's Seat.  The view of the Bay and the city skyline is spectacular.  A quick bit of shopping at the Red Hill market before some grape grazing on the Mornington Peninsula; finally working your way over to Cape Schanck and the lighthouse.  Then (if you time it right) work you way over to Phillip Island and the penguin parade.  Stay overnight on the island, and spend the next day heading "inland", exploring the "gourmet deli" food trail along the Strezlecki Ranges, with smoked meats, cheeses and honeys, and other organic produce.  Then make a slight detour to Moe and visit the Old Gippstown historical park.  From Moe, you're only a little over an hour back into the City on the Princes Freeway; passing lavender farms, apple orchards, and the spudman in Thorpedale.  But in two days, you will have seen Victoria "from the mountains to the sea" and taken in some of the most beautiful countryside and hidden treasures that lay on Melbourne's doorstep.

  4. You do not say if you are a local or are coming in to Melbourne. I had an African friend come in. She was mad keen on cricket, so took her to the museum at the MCG. We spent a day traveling on the trams all around town, and she hurt her neck trying to see everything. The zoo, so she could see the animals she grew up with safely behind bars. We ate a pie, dough nut and a milkshake sitting outside the casino. It was the simple things I took for granted that were her highlights

  5. St Kilda Beach

    Dandenong Ranges

    Hastings beach

    Healesville

  6. Some great places are:

    Federation square

    Melbourne Central

    Luna Park

    The Aquarium

    Crown

    Southbank

    Docklands

    Sidney Myer Music Bowl

    DFO Spencer Street

    St Kilda Beach

Max Brenner (the best chocolate cafe ever)

    Telstra Dome

    MCG
