I am writing a 4000 word essay on g*y marriage and other LGBT issues.

I was wondering what your views are..should LGBT people be allowed the right to marry? Give whatever reasons you have..though i am getting very tired of 'God says its a sin'. The bible was written by man not God..

Yes it is a religious book but as far as i am aware, everything written in the bible had been passed by word etc from people to people.

Im looking for;

What are your views on g*y people in general, and their life?

What are your views on g*y marriage?

What are your views on g*y adoption?

What are your views on anything related to g*y people?

What are your views on LGBT persons being discriminated against?

Thankyou :)

xoxo

  1. I think g*y marriage is exactly the same as regular marriage.  I believe homosexual spouses should get equal rights in adoption, social security, inheritance, etc. as heterosexual spouses.

People talk about the sanctity of marriage and that has become the law, but it is legal for people to have s*x and get pregnant and then have a "SANCTUAL" marriage., so that argument is not valid.

  2. I have no problem at all with g*y people, g*y marriage or g*y adoption.  I don't have any real arguments for them except that I don't believe their presence or their marriage have any negative effect on my life.  I don't buy all the religious right propaganda that they have a secret, sinister agenda and are trying to seduce/recruit our children.  You may want to Google Lawrence W. Britt's "14 identifying characteristics of fascism".  Persecution of homosexuals is one of them.

  3. I am OK with g**s, I just do not think that a union of two men/women is the same as a marriage of a man and a woman.

    g*y marriage? I oppose it.

    g*y adoption? Not sure.

Depends on what exactly is being discussed.

I do not think that g**s should be discriminated against say in schools, or at work.

  4. Three points:

    1)  From a libertarian perspective; anything that two consenting adults wish to do together that doesn't have adverse consequences on third parties should not be subject to interference by the government.

Free and fair governance should protect minorities from majorities trying to enforce "ethical" conduct through the legal system.

    2)  From a perspective of marriage in general; unfortunately marriage has become a 'legal definition'.  Being married has all sorts of legal and taxation implications.  I we have to "delegalize" marriage (i.e. remove from the legal dictionary).  People should be subject to same laws and taxes regardless of whether they have put a ring on each others' fingers.

    3)  Not that I'm really into the greatest phallacy of all time, but regarding the bible; if you actually read the bible (which I don't think most christains do) you'll note that the references to homosexuality being bad are few, far between and often somewhat vague.  Minus Leviticus, which says "Man shall not sleep with man.  It is an abomination" (leviticus also says you have to pay the father of the girl you rape 30 shekels and everything is cool), there are no clear statements about homosexuality being wrong.

In John, God punishes a group of gluttons by turning them into homosexuals.  The bible states that this is a punishment because being homosexual is "awkward/unusual/unpleasant" (depending on which translation you like from the Greek).  Apparently homosexuality went from being an abomination in the old testemant to being unpleasant in the new.  Perhaps God changed his mind.......

  5. 1) g*y people are like everybody else - I believe in their right to love whomever they decide to love.

    2) I think marriage is a christian concept. I don't see why g**s would want to be married in a constitution in which they do not believe. I currently have no objection on them being officially recognized as couples.

    3) No, thanks. I sure know that I wouldn't want my parents to be g*y. One cannot mess with the way nature is. I don't believe it's healthy for the kid - in any event, you can't tell.

    4) Some might be nice people, some might be a pain in the azz. I judge people individually.

    5) Define discrimination, please.

  6. My view is, that it's not for me, but they can live how they want. It's not me that anyone has to answer to. That's all I have on the subject.
