  1. Then why not go the whole way and refuse to eat anything that was once living.

That of course includes things like vegetables.

  2. i think that they were put here on earth for us to eat. man can you imagine a world without meat. it would mean no burgers. rather die than that happen. lol

  3. Go eat your tofu and be quiet, I will enjoy my steak or what ever other meat I decided to eat.

  4. Meat eating does not a very nice person make, does it - to judge by the nasty, angry  little replies you have received on here!  You are not apparently even entitled to your opinion, but the slavering eaters of carrion give full vent to their feelings - obviously they are feeling threatened -  with good reason.

Threepennies has summed it all up pretty well.  Whilst people faff around saving plastic bags and tin cans, it is meat eating that is the cause of mass hunger and  immense global pollution,  and will eventually have to be addressed.  Notice how the environmentalists and politicians pick on everything but the real issue.  They know how emotive it will be.

I think that really the issue is a moral one.  Animals may be bred for meat.  Does that make it alright then?  No one can say with any assurance that they were put on earth for us to eat, which implies a divine involvement. (How many people actually believe that anymore).  Could it be that animals are actually on earth for their own purposes, and nothing to do with the God-almighty humans??  As for labouring under the illusion that they have good lives and quick deaths - wise up!  They dont.  This country (factory farming and pig farming apart) is probably the best of a pretty bad bunch.  The cruelty involved in rearing, transporting and killing animals is horrifying, especially in other parts of the world, where there  are no animal welfare regulations. You can try and hide from the truth, but meat eaters are contributing to one of the greatest evils mankind has ever perpetuated.  None of us can be free of guilt, but undoutedly some try harder than others to do the better  thing.

I would never want to attack a meat-eater prefering a sensible discussion and exchange of views.  We are all at different stages of development and have had different influences.  I just do not know why some people have to be so virulent in their attitudes.

  5. It's a natural thing, we eat meat as do many other animals on this planet is that a pointless purpose, the big difference is that we kill without the pain...it is each and every ones choice whether they eat meat or not

The environmental issue if everyone stopped eating meat there would be enough food to feed everyone just how do you work that one out....the animals that are no longer slaughtered still have to eat and will breed and breed and don't you vegetarians realise that massive amounts of animals die to protect your food sources...wise up

  6. It is perfectly OK to do so.What purposeless point? They are a food source like any other. The entire world eats meat.Without it we would all starve.I know vegetarians don't believe it but it is true, all it takes is one or two bad growing seasons,a flood any number of things fresh vegetables DO NOT KEEP,they were not meant to they are to be consumed in the year they grow.Unless you think eating out of a can constantly is healthy.I garden with out canning or freezing there would be no need to grow anything as it will not keep.It molds,it rottens, its gone.Do you think all the hundreds of thousands who died in Ireland during the potato famine is a joke? Or how about global crop failure? That is a Real concern to any farmer, every year nothing is guarnteed we plant in the hopes of harvest but its not a guarntee and I do know faced with starvation you will either eat what is available or you will starve.I personally do not like many meats and some of it I don't consider food but for those who do it is their right to eat and my right to not say anything about it.Just my thoughts.

  7. I take it vegetarian barbecues are a riot then ?

  8. Only common domesticated animals for human consumption

    as food.

    Acts. 10.10-16

Not any wild or marine life that is " Unclean" not fit for human consumption that will create unhealthy health problems.

    Leviticus 11.1-47

Not in doing things at own whims and fancy as exotic food or aphodisac with self lack of knowledge in self destruction God's natural assets to self extinction vital for the survival and advancement of living human kind in time.

    Exodus 20.13

    What do you think?

  9. I watched the "Kill It, Cook It, Eat It" show one evening and I had just finished two burgers shortly before viewing. I didn't eat meat for a week afterwards.

Here's my view - a blind one. Eat, drink and be merry, before the the bliss of ignorance starves you with conscience.

  10. Much the same as killing plants and thier offspring to eat.

  11. We need to double up. I running low on ribeys, porkchops, ribs and sausage.

  12. my partner was a vegetarian..I'm a meat lover..he never once imposed his views on me..its a personal thing..don't look down on people just because they are meat eaters....my oldest child at the tender age of 7 wants to be a vegetarian and that's fine...but just because i like to eat meat does not make me any less of a person than if i didn't eat it..each to their own...an awful lot of people would lose their livelyhoods too if the UK suddenly went meat free

  13. It would be hypocritical of me to condemn the slaughter of animal for food because I continue to enjoy eating meat. I know I am indiscipline, allowing the body to control my mind: enjoying the things which satisfy the senses - nice clothes, good food, bad habits.

Ten years ago, I stopped eating meat of any kind; it wasn't a decision based on religion or health. This was after a working visit to a commercial pig farm where the things I saw were 'terrifying' (to me). After 2 years of abstinence, I gradually resumed a meat diet without much thought (out of sight, out of mind).

Deep down, I know it is not right for human beings to kill for food. It is a barbaric habit for a so-called civilized society that is numb to many things. It's convenient to rely on age-old habits and practices which please our senses; it's uphill to breakaway from the crowd.

Thank you for a timely reminder. I will make another effort to refrain from eating meat.

  14. A subject very close to my heart and ‘threepenny’ and ‘tuckie’ have summed it up perfectly.

All I would add is that I chose to become vegetarian after I witnessed personally what goes on in the so called ‘humane’ slaughterhouses and the endless cruelty of factory farming. I do not believe animals were put on this Earth simply for Humans to do as they please but it seems for some their arrogance is self explanatory.

  15. Animals kill each other, without a problem.  And there is a point - we eat meat.

  16. I love eating meat and sadly for you, so does the vast majority of the population of the planet. Take your insignificant rant somewhere else. Cheers.

  17. Well, you are welcome to take that view. I prefer to look at it as simply being part of Nature. And believe me, most ways that humans kill animals for their food is much less painful than jumping on their back and ripping their throats out. That does not mean we should not be good stewards over animals. We certainly should not torture our prey. When abuses occur, there are laws in place to punish those responsible.

And why is attaining sustenance "pointless?" Some "animals" are carnivores, some are vegetarian, and some are omnivores. We are NATURALLY omnivores and are at our HEALTHIEST when we have good quality meat as well as good quality vegetables and fruits in our diet.

You can try to ignore that fact, but it does not make it any less true. That is why the more strict a vegetarian you are, the more you must artificially manipulate your diet to get the amnios and proteins you need for good health... It's because vegetarianism is NOT natural to us. So your emotionalism notwithstanding, meat-eating is still (and always will be) the reality of life.

  18. Tasty. I know where and how meat is processed and have done my own hunting and butchering. Mankind has done it for tens of thousands of years so it doesn't bother me or anyone in my family (well, the wife is a little squeamish during butchering.) I am not a "trophy hunter." I don't waste the meat or hide of the animals I hunt. Everything that can be used is used. I also give thanks to the goddess for the good hunting and for the animals' passing. Guess it would also be pointless to kill plants for the same reason, since some think that plants feel pain also. Can't live on just air, people.

  19. Being a vegetarian is a personal choice, and people have different reasons for going vegetarian - or not.    I would never try and persuade someone to stop eating meat although it is not necessary for a healthy diet.

However, for anyone interested in the environmental issues the following might be useful - the fact is that if everyone was vegeterian we could feed up to 3 times the number of people on this planet and help erase famine.   "There were approximately 6.5 billion people living on earth in 2005, and as the world’s population continues to grow, our requirement for food will also increase. Worldwide food production requires 30% of the total soil available, 20% of fossil fuel energy and a major part of the fresh water flow. Raising cattle is one of the most damaging components of agriculture. They cause the most environmental damage of any non-human species through over-grazing, soil erosion, desertification and tropical deforestation for ranches, in addition to their gaseous emissions and manure products. Studies on world food security estimate that an affluent diet containing meat requires up to 3 times as many resources as a vegetarian diet."   Remember, all domestic and farm animals have deliberately been bred solely to provide food.  If nature took its course their numbers would decrease naturally.

  20. When Noah loaded the ark......I believe GOD gave them all to him meaning mankind for us to have on all levels because we saved them. Technically we are given authority over the earth and its creatures. We as people just abuse every fricking thing!!!

  21. we have no choice,

our bodies are too used to eaing them

trying to stop will cause effect.

    were dammed

  22. "Get up, Peter; kill some of these animals, and eat them."

But Peter wouldn't do it, because God had told the people of Israel, the Jews, that there were certain kinds of animals which they were not to eat. These were called "unclean." It was all right for them to eat the meat of cattle and sheep, but not the meat of the animals which Peter saw in his dream.

  23. Shame. But just ask yourself how any animal will die without human intervention?

The answer: slowly through starvation or illness or slightly more quickly by predation (eg Cats).

Animals killed for meat are killed very quickly with no pain.

  24. Man I love beef, ummmmmmmmmmmmm

I love fresh meat! Hey come hunting with me.

  25. Not pointless at all and a great source of protein.

  26. They are raised for that purpose so that's their destiny.  Besides there isn't a whole lot better than a good plate of bacon so untill they figure out how to get bacon out of the pig without killing it, not much we can do.

  27. NP.  Get over it.  You like your beefcakes as much as anyone else.

  28. it is disgusting

  29. Animals would continue to be killed anyway, it would be wrong to waste the food/meat? Also, animals were designed for us to eat, they have the necessary nutrients. The animals either get eaten or kill oher animals anyway its just nature!

    and it tastes good :)

  30. i agree with you. i fail to understand how humans think animals are there for us to eat. surely thats not the opinion of the animals. how about if they decide to eat us? they get shot. its not a fair game i think

  31. Let me educate you.  People are omnivores.  This means we eat both animal and vegetable.  I happen to like meat.  I also am aware that even if I didn't eat meat and no one else did either that animals would still be killed only they would only be killed for their skin.  I would much prefer that if the animal is going to die that we use as much of the animal as possible.   I really don't want to see any wasted parts.  Now if it really disgusted you, you would never wear leather (animal hide), never give your dog a bone ( animal) not even rawhide (animal hide) and your dog would also eat vegetarian dog food.  And remember your carnivore cat would also be a vegetarian.
