What are your views on religion?

Ok for me it is a little different. I do believe that there is a power that created us and guides us all, and we people named this power "God".

What I don't believe in, is in radical religion.

I think that as long as you are a great person, helpful, you don't create harm to the people around you, you don't hurt them, you respect the decisions of people, you generally are a good citizen who respects the values and goals of others, and try to live a peaceful life, you are an amazing person, and I believe this is what religion should be promoting.

I don't believe that we should say it's a sin to be g*y, or to stay divorced even if your spouse is aggressive, to dress or act a certain way or to I don't even know what, just cause the Bible or any other religious book tells you, as long as you don't create any harm to the people around you.

Thus, I believe we should take religion just as a thing to be faithful to to a certain level, and just try to take the right message "not create harm in any way around you" not go in the radical side of it.

Those are my views.. Hope you can understand what I meant. Sorry if my ideas and flow were not clear enough! It's pretty late here :)

I am curious to see what the LGBT thinks about this.

  1. The Bible is not just a book, it is the word of God and what it says is true, yes it is good to be a good person etc. It is each persons choice what they do in life as God gave us free will. You are right that no one should force their beliefs on anyone else, but there is a right and wrong way and if the Bible says something is a sin, it is a sin, the bible clearly states that homosexuality is a sin there is no way around that. Most g*y people are nice and generally good people but it doesn't mean they are not sinners. I do not know you but it sounds to me as if you are feeling a little bit guilty.

  2. It seems you are exploring the religious/spiritual side of human experience and you have hit the edge of where your open-minded rational beliefs (good person, help others, etc) clashes with closed-minded religious dogma.

It also seems very likely that you are a young homosexual who is afraid to 'come out of the closet' due to a 'religious upbringing' in a 'god-fearing' household/community. In this case, ditch *all religions* by recognising them for the anti-human, anti-human-advancement institutions they really are. Be yourself. Be free.

Two books that I have, personally, found pertinent to this:

Demon Haunted World - Carl Sagan

        Barefoot Doctor - Stephen Russell

You can, probably, obtain them from your local library.

  3. SPEC, I agree that everyone has their right to an opinion but if that opinion is more of a statement that could possibly cause harm or hurt to someone then i believe that opinion to be best kept to themselves, not very Christian like is it stating that love is a sin, whether it be with the same s*x or not, I agree with others, as long as you are a good person and try your best to be an honest person that is open minded enough to at least respect others peoples opinions without causing offence then you are on the right lines, although i am not g*y, i have many dear friends who are  and they are some of the most honest and likeable people i have ever met!!!

  4. I'm agnostic. I live in Italy, the "vatican" nation, and I could only hate any types of religions that considered a "sin" my style life. **** religions, they only need for makes wars and for fuel intollerance.

  5. I think that there is a god, but i dont agree with the church most of the time. Like, abortion. They say everyone should have a chance, I say that if the mother knows that she cant give the child a good home, don't force her to. With g*y marrige, they say it's a man marrying a woman. period.I say if you don't like it, dont get one!

  6. I agree with you and you are very clear at what you mean.

The same goes for me. I believe that there is a higher power guiding us that we collectively call God, but I don't believe in organized religions. There are too many contradictions to them.

And many people have been killed in the name of religion, each group believing that theirs is the right one, which is another reason I don't agree with any of them.

But most people can't see beyond their blind conviction that has become religion.

As far as what people believe, I'm fine with it as long as they don't try and push their beliefs on me.

  7. I believe in god. but I don't believe in religion though. I guess similar as you are. I personally think that you can't control what people have said or do in the past without consequences.

Besides, it is so unfair that only a selected religious people can go to heaven, while the nice and loving ones but never been in the religion suddenly just go to h**l.....

  8. I agree wholeheartedly.

I believe that religion originated with good and pure intentions and purposes... but over time people began using it to control the masses. What better way to gain power and control your people if they're afraid of a higher power, as opposed to you, one human?

  9. I don't buy religion in any way, shape, or form !

  10. You should read "Cat's Cradle" by Kurt Vonugut. It is a really funny book  and a crazy story but the message is quite profound about religion.

I do believe that there is a God. But I also believe that religion is the opiate of the masses. If there wasn't religion in the world many people would not feel happy. Religion gives us a purpose and set laws, which provide comfort to many people. Even though religion can cause great harm I do believe that it has done more good for the world than bad.

  11. i totally agree with you...this is basically the same thing that i believe...i am the b from the LGBT by the way lol....but ya... i think we should try to be good people and be positive and uplifting of others...you go honey!

  12. i was baptised catholic, but i don't believe any of the c**p that they try to get you to believe. how is it possible that a god created everything? who created him. i don't mind g**s or lesbians. they did not choose to be that way. i think that it is good for certain people to have religions to help them have morals because we would all be running around killing people and such without them. i don't believe in the stories in the bible or anything. they are just stories to help explain a fraction of what actually happened

  13. I realized that over the years the Bible and other religious text have been changed to make people believe otherwise. God didn't right the Bible, man did. So since they aren't any religious texts that magically fell out of the sky or appeared out of thin air, I take it all as folklore.
