  1. So he asked William Hill to bar him, ok thats one thing.

BUT did William Hill hold a gun to his head and force him into the betting shop, I doubt it.

DID William Hill tell him that he had to wager such large amounts of money, I doubt it.

Lets get real here for pity's sake.

How many times are we going to half to listen to stupid mundane excuses that people make when the things that go wrong for them are self inflicted.

Someone driving down the road misses seeing an obstacle in the road and loses control. He is not wearing his seat belt so gets seriously injured, is he going to sue the police for not putting his belt on for him, is he going to sue the farmer who owns a field that a rabbit wight run out of        HE and HE alone went into the betting shop and HE and HE alone placed the bet that he wanted,     AND HE LOST IT   end of story.

  2. If they allow this then the world has really gone insane !

the bloody idiot should have demonstrated some self control.....

Mars Bars, where is my stash of Mars bars,I have only had 7 today..Must have a Mars Bar.

OK get a grip, self control yeah that's what i need self control.

  3. no one else placed the bets but him so he only has himself to blame

  4. I'll bet you £5 you could.

  5. i have never heard anything so stupid what is it coming to

  6. People try to sue for anything these days, if they fall over, they are on the phone to these no win no fee companies. Some people are very greedy.

  7. Hello Mrs Shady. Not seen you for a while.

Try it, I bet you'll get some free drinks to keep you quiet!

  8. People sue for anything they can now days. Life just seems to be about getting money from somewhere other than earning it,

  9. It's another example of the  'pass the bookie' culture we live in.

  10. i'd like to answer you're question mrs shady,

but i cant get a word in for that dave s,lol.

  11. silly thing to do, you could go into a bar and try that one ha ha

  12. Im going to amaze everyone on here and express a more moderate view on this.

Yes it was mainly this mans fault.

    HOWEVER.

William Hill have clearly set up a contract whereby people with problems can exclude themselves.

I take issue with a company offering a solution and even entering in to a contract over it, but then not enforcing it.

Lets say this man did win the Ryder cup bet he made (over £350,000) then William Hill turned around to him and said 'Oh sorry, we wont pay you out because youre on our exclusion list.' They didnt have to in this case because he lost, but they could have had the result not gone their way.

YES this man is clearly responsible but to absolve William Hill of any blame isnt helping matters either.

William Hill establish a contract with this man and then chose to break the terms of that contract. Should we just overlook this minor detail?

    dave s has spoken!
