  1. Besides the obvious prejudice and "culture", I think it's biological, too.

I'm a girl, and even though I am independent-minded, I have to admit that males and females ARE different. We were made differently! Men are stronger and women are weaker, in a physical sense. Believe it or not, women are naturally the "mother" because we are the ones who do the birthing and all that.

Still, this might be cultural, but I truly feel that IF I had to choose, I would employ a male over a female:

    - men aren't as tied down

    - men aren't as emotional

    - men are stronger

But once we move into the "brain" department, the different minimizes. It's the lower to middle workforce that truly shows the inequality between the genders.

  2. Seems we have "legal equality" but what is not enforced is social equality...meaning, sexism, sexist attitudes, still exist...and sadly, these attitudes are not the sole fault of men, for they are often views that are held by women, as well.  Sexism is not only pervasive, it's tolerated.  What I can't stand to see (and find it hard to understand) is that women themselves seem to tolerate sexism.  Until we stop exploiting ourselves, and start respecting ourselves more, there won't be equality.  Suggestions?  Let's stop harmful media messages.  No more skinny supermodels with eating disorders.  Let's send healthy messages about women through the media.  Let's stop getting breast implants, liposuction, botox injections.  Let's dissuade our young from falling for these unrealistic ideals about what women should look like.   I find it sad that there are women who fool themselves into thinking that exploiting themselves in p**n, prostitution and related activities is "empowering."  Let's socialize our young (and teach them) to respect themselves more.  Inequality exists because we allow it to exist.  We tolerate it.  We laugh about it.  We idealize it.  It's time to send a new message to our future generations...respect ourselves, respect each other.

  3. It's simple. Equality can never be achieved between men and women because:

    1. Men and women are not the same , but different creations.

    2. A woman CANNOT do what a man does and vice versa.

    3. The body and mind of men and women are not structured to do the same kind of things.

    4. What needs to happen is both men and women should complement each other in their weaknesses, so that a balanced life results.
