  1. There is a short ungraded essay in the beginning of the SSAT that is provided to any schools to which you send your scores. The SSAT has a reading/verbal section which tests reading and vocabulary. The math section tests basic math concepts. The SSAT website provides some sample questions. In addition, most study aid companies, (i.e. Kaplan, Princeton Review) have practice guides on the SSAT you could probably find at your local library.
