Hi,

I'm planning on moving to Arizona in a month and was wondering if someone could tell me what areas/cities are good to live in. I don't have a job lined up and want to move to a place where (1) the cost of living is reasonable (2) is safe (3) where I can find a job!

I hear that Phoneix is my best bet but I'm not sure what parts of Phoneix are a good match for me. If you know of any other cities in AZ that are good, please let me know!!!

Thanks much!

  1. Most of central Phoenix is laid out kind of weird. Because you can be in a community with million dollar home, then you drive a few blocks north, and you're in a trailer park. The areas you should avoid are South, West, and some parts of Central Phoenix. Even the surrounding areas like Chandler have their little pockets, but they are just that.....little!

    Good West Side Areas:

    Goodyear

    Litchfield

    Surprise

    Peoria

    North Glendale

    Central Phoenix areas:

    North

    East and

    some parts of central

    East Valley:

    Tempe (college town) ASU

    Scottsdale (richy town)

    Chandler

    Gilbert

    and Queen Creek

Mesa has a few bad areas, but some really nice.

  2. Paradise Valley or Scottsdale

  3. I wouldn't recommend moving to a city without a job already lined up, but it sounds like you have already taken the leap.

Tempe, by the university, should be a reasonable area. Chandler and Glendale seem to growing areas.

You should also look into Tucson, which is only about an hour and a half south of Phoenix.

  4. Arcadia , at 54th Street south of Camelback, would be your first choice. It's expensive.   2nd would be Ahwatukee which is west of Tempe.  Less expensive but wonderful./
