Ok, i'm trying to be diplomatic ok, so i'm wondering what scientific reasons you would use to try to suggest AFL was some how supperior to Rugby League ?

Both sports have a strong Aerobic base, more so in AFL and a greater need for speed & strength = power in Rugby League. Rugby League is far more player or position specific and places greater demands upon a players Anaerobic Alactic energy system, as opposed to the aerobic and anaerobic lactate systems dominate in AFL. Your constructive thoughts ? Also in Rugby (either code) you can compete in World Cups or International competitions, in AFL apart from Gaellic Football, you can't.

  1. It is too tough an argument to discuss this late at night (1:25 a.m.) maybe I can think about it tomorrow and have an update.

  2. I dont bother getting into arguments about it, as an AFL fan will always say their code is best, and vice versa. But i agree with you about Rugby, you can play against other countries, World Cups etc.

  3. Canberra Raiders or Melbourne Demons.

Give me the Canberra Raiders anyday.

  4. AFL is more fast pace with alot less stopages. Also AFL gets the crowds we got almost 90 thousand to Cats vs Magies and that wasnt even the Grandfinal thats like 5 times wat u got to ur granny.

  5. They are both very different games so why try to compare the two??

AFL is a true Aussie sport with passionate supporters.  I believe thats the way it should stay.

  6. Because all League players do is run forwards and pass sideways. Then people shat their pants when Joey Johns kicked the ball in a straight line.

And for the international matches point, there's about as much international diversity in rugby league as there in curling.

You know the reasons aussie rules fans love aussie rules,

so stop trying to provoke an argument.

  7. rugby league has cheer girls

thats all i need a few beers and some cheer girls to watch

  8. The best argument I would put forward to support NRL over AFL is the State of Origin games played between the two major NRL states - Qld & NSW.

The players would sell their mothers if it meant that it would help them represent their respective state. None feign injury to miss a game - they try & mask injuries & will play through the pain barrier. They treat it as an honour to represent their state in a game of rugby league. Then one can go on to represent their country - but that is another story.

When the AFL has had state sides playing each other they are battling to raise a worthwhile respresentative side - as most players opt out through some pretend injury or similar.

The AFL club sides don't support the state concept, whereas NRL clubs support the state matches fully.

I'm not going to try & play one game off against the other as people have their own personal like, dislikes & views.

  9. its an unwinable argument, we love our Aussie rules and you love your game, mate it's been done to death, any thing i say ain't going to change your mind, and vice versa, crowds say it all, if rugby league is such a great game, why don't the crowds go?

As i said yesterday, its what you are bought up with, this won't achieve any thing, now get back over to the cricket with romper and get into these Indians.

  10. Somebody in a little tiff and looking for online help? Just say that Rugby is for European qwears (spelling intentional...take it for what it is...it isn't a word so...) and the AFL is for men who like girls. That's all.

  11. OMG!!!

I Love AFL better and that's final!!!!

I don't care what anyone else thinks.

I'm not saying AFL is better or not,all I'm saying is "I" prefer AFL.

If you prefer Rugby League, then good on you.Love the passion.

    Let it be!!!!

  12. agree with cutemum, rich and rom, it dont really matter, chill out about son.

who cares we're all aussies, lets get on with things to make our country better, why should care if you go to the league or why should you if i got to watch the aussie rules, lifes too short mate, go aussies against the indians, fun in the cricket section with crazy "0Z" he is yahoo are cheats, what a wacker.

  13. its not its only rougher

  14. It's a totally different sport, you cant really compare the two. If you were wanting to compare Rugby League to something it should be Rugby Union not AFL.

Due to the different physical attributes, and the way the game is played and the overall difference in the game it's hard to compare them. The most similar game to Rugby League is Rugby Union, it should be those 2 you compare. The games are just to different.

    My 2 cents
