What arm muscles do you use when playing tennis?

I'm a tennis player but I don't know which arm muscles I should work on. I'm thinking of the muscles between the hand and elbow? Anything else? And if you have any strengthening workouts, feel free to post em.

Thanks in advance.

  1. Yeah, ur mostly right, but remember, u need to work on ur calf (ok i suck at spelling?) muscles b4 anyting u SHOULD b using a lot of those if u r good. not sooooooooooo much the arms. my arms r ok, but my calfs (sp?) r ... mb a little too toned

  2. You should squeeze a ball in your hand 20 times each day,it really gets the wrist and forearm muscles up and going so you can achieve a killer forehand and backhand. Don't try to get really big muscles,it will slow and tire you down. Hope this helps :)

  3. Try focusing on triceps and biceps!

  4. You don't use any muscles between the elbow and arm to a major extent. You use candyloid joints(wrist) and biceps and triceps.

  5. yeh my friend is a tennis player and he has huge forearms(bit between your hands and your elbows). i wouldnt really know howd you work that but other then that youd want to work on your legs. so your calfs, guads, hammis so that you can be more agile. also dont forget your core muscles such as your abs and lower back for improved balance and agility. the upper body isnt to important in tennis. the best thing to do for your legs is running. alternate between sprints and long distance running. that being said a little extra gym work wouldnt hurt either
