It really does not matter on the shaft of the arrow however lighter arrows do shoot quicker and more effectivley, what does matter is where you aim, where you hit, and what type of broadhead you are using.

Here's the deal- in the old days it was assumed that the heavier arrow would always have the most kinetic energy. But now, test's have shown that the lighter arrow will have basically the same kinetic energy as the heavier arrow , due to the increase in speed it gets just from being lighter The energy imparted on the target is basically the same. By the way, you can only compare setups by the amount of energy an arrow has when it hits the target- arrows have no knockdown power- they cause death by cutting major arteries and organs in the deers body causing it to bleed to death. Weight doesn't kill, speed doesn't kill, accuracy kills!

Yeah the weight isnt really as important as your technique and the head youre using, good broadheads have massive knockdown at close ranges, but heavy arrows wont fly as quick and youll have to get closer

The only time "knock down power" would be a consideration in arrows would be if you are using blunt tips to hunt small game. For big game animals, broadhead tipped arrows do not have "knock down power". They do their job through penetration and cutting. A heavier arrow will generally penetrate better if all other factors are the same. The trade off is that a heavier arrow will travel slower than a lighter one.

It's not the arrow that provides the knockdown it's the broadhead, bow poundage and shot placement these 3 things are the most critical for your hunt however I do shoot lighter arrows just for the fact that they fly better and faster.
