  1. Bohr's model describes electrons just orbiting around the nucleus in circles, however modern atomic theory states that electrons are located in 3D "orbitals" around the center of the atom. However, its presentation of different electron shells is still valid and commonly used.

  2. A fundamental result from classical electrodynamics is that accelerating charged particles must radiate energy.  That means electrons in circular orbits around a nucleus would be constantly accelerating centripetally, and therefore they would have to radiate energy, decreasing orbital energy, and decaying into the nucleus in femtoseconds.  Matter doesn't destroy itself like this so even Bohr knew the idea of fixed orbits was wrong, he just didn't know what to do to fix it.

Nearly all physicists of the day knew that the Bohr atom was a drastic oversimplification of what went on.
