I'm heading there for a few days. I remembered they had a water park there but i think it shut down? Also what type of temperature can i expect during my visit (August)? It's in NSW on the Mid North Coast.

  1. The water park you were thinking of was called Peppermint Park, and it shut down some years ago.

The temperature in Port Macquarie varies from high 10's to low 20's, being August make sure you take warm clothes!

For attractions, there's Timbertown (About a 30 minute drive west), Camel Rides on Lighthouse Beach (A must!) and a fantastic wild life park about 20 minutes drive.

As for entertainment there's some great bars and restaurants, too many to list, but I found a great website for locals and visitors showcasing a bunch of attractions and entertainment: http://www.whatsonnow.com.au/

Click Port Macquarie, and then Attractions or Clubs & Bars. I think you can even view menus and get directions.

If it's not the best weather there's lots of shopping and cinemas (The Whats On Now website shows movie times). The BOM website will be able to give you accurate weather forecasts http://www.bom.gov.au/

  2. I recommend Timbertown but you might think it's daggy - really it depends on how old you are and what you like doing. The link below will give you some ideas. The weather so far this winter has been mixed - yesterday for example was foul, chilly and pouring with rain, but today is fantastic - blue skies and up to about 21C. You just never know! It gets very chilly once the sun starts to go down though, so you'll certainly need warm clothes for evening/night.
