  1. the "underground city" downtown is a bunch of malls  all connected together ... that and ste catherines street are best for shopping or strolling around.   the site provided above has lots of ideas as well.

  2. oh! lots of stuff! I live in Montreal so ...:) and I've been to most places.

    You've got:

Le Musée des Beaux Arts de Montréal ( museum:P) they have a permanent collection you can see for free and the other stuff aren't very expensive, you can check out their website here:http://www.mmfa.qc.ca/en/index.html

Oratoire Saint Joseph: a really cool ( well impressive architecture:P) Oratory that looks over Montreal (also free for visiting): http://www.saint-joseph.org/en_1007_inde...

The "vieux port", I guess it translates into 'old port", is just the old part of the city, you can walk along the streets, see the Saint Laurent river.

You can always check out this site, they have a more thorough explanation of a few places to visit in Montreal. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g...

    Hope I helped:)

  3. Well, I guess that depends what sort of things you're interested in. I think St Joseph's Oratory would be an experience. It's free, and absolutely beautiful. Also, if you like walking I think a trip walking up Mont Royal is really fun. There are trails that wind all the way up, and there are paths with an easy incline if you just want to leisurely make your way up. Once at the top you can go to the look out and get a great view of the whole city.

Other free things would be going down to the Old Port. In the summer it's full of painters/venders and multi-person-bikes or segways for rent and historical buildings.

Things you can do that aren't a lot of money, but aren't free could include The Biodome. It's like an indoor zoo with different habitats in different areas. It's $16 for an adult admission. Or there's a package deal that for $27 you can have admission to the Biodome, the Insectarium and the Botanical Gardens.

And of course the best way to see the city is walk downtown! Maybe go around the Cresent Street area at night if you like pubs, or the St Laurent Street area if you like clubs.

    Have a great trip!
