Question:

What audio files does my car stereo support?

I am trying to create a CD of some of my favorite songs from Itunes to play on my car stereo (I have a 2001 Saturn SL2 with the factory installed stereo). I _thought_ it would be easy enough but the first CD I burned has all mp3 files and my car stereo spits it out, just refuses to play it. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Is there a certain type of file I should be converting these mp3s to? What's the best (free) way to do that?

  1. your vehicles' factory stereo does not support mp3 file formats. thats why it just spits them out and doesnt read them.

what you will have to do is burn the songs as "normal" format. this is just like any audio cd from the store which can handle a maximum of 80 minutes.

since you are using iTunes, go to:

    Edit

    Preferences

    Advanced

    Burning

and click on "Audio CD" under the "Disc Format" question.

  2. just burn a regular audio CD, not an mp3 cd.
