What av cable should i use to connect my ipod or mac to my stereo. There is one one out put and one input.?

i bought one for 5 dollars and it sounded horrible and had tons of static.

You probably have the correct cable.  It should be a 1/8" headphone jack that plugs into the ipod headphone (output) and the other end should be RCAs (white and red, or red and black) and should go into your stereos inputs.

If it sounds static, try turning the volume on the ipod down.  Also make sure all your connections are tight.

if you are talking about on the stereo then it would be input. If you go output then it will be like you sending the speaker sound to the ipod or mac. input is when you what to send the audio of the ipod or mac to the stereo
