Before I was pregnant with my girl, I didnt know a thing about babies having never been around them. Because I was the youngest in my family, never saw my cousins and I didnt have any friends with babies etc. So when I became pregnant, thats when I started reading the baby books and started coming across all the baby jargon.

For me the word that I had no idea about was 'layette' everyone kept going on and on about layettes and I was like....what the beep is that? It was well after my baby was born when I found out what it was, and then I was like...well....too late now. lol

How about you guys??

  1. try learning u.s. baby jargon on top of u.k. baby jargon. just kidding. but seriously, my husband works for a ton of u.k. people, so when i was pregnant with our first they were asking me if i had a pram. come to find out that's a stroller. drove me nuts!

  2. I am breastfeeding and I had no idea about the "letdown reflex"  I thought the milk just came out like it does from a bottle.   But it actually takes a minute or so to start and feels pretty strange when it does.  I also didn't know what a onesie was...or that many people call pacifiers "binkies" or "nuks" or "dummies"

  3. My mom and mother in law kept asking if I needed a bumper set...I had no clue what a bumper set was!! I assumed it had something to do with breastfeeding so I kept telling them no I didn't need one. I was just fine with my breast pads. About 2 weeks until my son arrived my mother came over and was like, "I thought you had the bumper set already?!" We ended up rushing out to get a bumper pad set.

*edit* I have no idea what bunting is either!!

  4. I didn't know what a "bunting" was... LOL Sounded like a cake pan to me.....
