What background/training do you need to be a teacher's aide?

Teacher's Aide is what they used to call it, but now it may be classroom assistante or education assistant. I would like to work for the public school system.

  1. In the US, the job you're thinking about is now usually called "paraprofessional."  Because of the No Child Left Behind Act, paraprofessionals usually need to either have an Associate's Degree or its equivalent (60 college credits) or be able to pass the ParaPro exam.  Some schools require that you have the college education and do no accept the ParaPro as an alternative.  It depends on their standards and needs.
