What bank info do I need to give the work manager?

0k so I live in Canada, is routing number the same as transit number? I have a transit number and its 4 digits. I also have the checking account number which is 7 digits. Is this all I need?

  1. The jobs I've worked for always just asked for a voided check and the numbers on the bottom of the check are the routing numbers. Although, I'm not sure if it's different in Canada than in the US


  2. not sure about canada...but the routing/transit numbers in the U.S. are 9 didget.  Why don't you ask them?

Yes, that should be all you need - assuming he's asking this so they can pay you by direct deposit (Take him a check you've written VOID over in big letters, being careful not to write over the numbers).  If its not for a direct deposit of your paycheck into your account, he may be wanting to do it as part of a background/credit check which is a different thing - its legal to do a credit check in the US if handling money is part of the job.  Be sure you know why he wants this information and if its a valid/routine question for the kind of work you're doing.
