I have Bank of America... and I'm ready to close my accounts! Their customer services is horrible! They always seem to have some "new charge" or "new fee" which is uncalled for! I really want to open up another account. I live in Southern California and would like to know if anyone knows of any good banks? I was thinking WaMu but I have started to hear some bad things about them!

Help!

  1. I have Wachovia. The customer service is GREAT!!!! The only thing is they charge one fee that I don't agree with. It's an unavailable funds fee. Basically, if you make a purchase that goes on hold and you have other transactions that come in while that is holding, if you don't have enough money for all the purchases then you get a fee on each item that is posting and you get another fee when the item on hold posts. It's pretty much a slick way to charge a fee. But if you watch your account and keep up with your purchases you don't have to worry about it. They also have GREAT cd rates and IRA's.

  2. WAMU is great for people new to banking. They have free checking and a high interest savings account. Some people are afraid that they may go under but if you have under 100k, your money will be FDIC insured.

Some banks charge you fees for every little thing. Most of the time when you bank you hardly deal with the actual bank, as long as you keep a balance and don't write checks for more than what's in your account.

If you don't like WAMU, you can find another bank at http://www.bankaround.com that offers decent rates.

  3. bank of america is a scam. Go to ingdirect.com

  4. I use to bank with Wells Fargo. And I had a lot of problems with them. Now I'm banking with M&I and they're great so far. I've been banking with them for four years now and I've had no problems with them at all.

    Good Luck!
