I'm going to be in Paris on St. Patrick's Day. What's the scene like in Paris on that very Irish holiday?

  1. St. Patrick's Day is not a very Irish Holiday. Its a very American holiday.

In recent years there has been a move in Ireland and other places to appropriate the American habit of drunken revels on this day because of its commercial value.

There are certainly a lot "Irish" bars in Paris which will be happy to accomodate the desire to drink until you puke. Corocoran's Irish Pub at 28, Rue St André des Arts in the 5th arrondissement is a nice place and I can personally attest to the fact that they play up the St. Patrick Day's theme.

One that is closer to the Champs Elysee is Murphy's Elysee at 14, rue Lincoln (Metro: George V ).

  2. Let me share years of experience with you. You should definitively go to the Saint Sulpice area, Rue des Canettes or Rue Princesse to be more specific. There are about 5 pubs on the same block, you don't want to miss this. Make sure to go early if you want a place to sit inside, it can get cold at night.

  3. Saint Patrick`s day is only big in irish english and american places.

you can try the "Chicago pizza-pai factory" half way down the champs-elysees. a huge underground restaurant with great bars everywhere
