  1. yea i agree with ya, jeter. Or someone who plays with their heart.

  2. Joe Morgan

  3. Since my other answers were already mentioned...I'll go off the board and say:  Joe McEwing.

Several years ago I was at one of the very rare rain delays at Dodger Stadium...The players were out doing pre-game stretches and sprints when the umpires called for the tarp to come out.  Every other player ran for the dry dugouts except for one skinny little guy wearing Cardinals road grey.  Despite the rain, he kept running his sprints at full bore...he only ducked into the dugout briefly to get his bat. By now the rain was falling pretty heavily, but Joe stayed out there, taking his cuts and staying loose.  Impressed, I looked up his number on the scorecard and found his name: McEwing.

"Super" Joe carved out a brief career as a utility guy for the Cards and Mets...he wasn't great at any one thing, but played hard all the time.  He played any position and would run through a wall if need be.

He loved the game.  I wish I could take his heart and implant it in any number of the over-paid, over-pumped and over-hyped so-called "stars" of today.

  4. Cal Ripken Jr.  Yes, I know he's retired and a Hall of Famer, but I truly believe he was one of the classiest guys to ever play the game of baseball.

I also think Michael Young plays the game the way it ought to be play.  He goes out and plays hard every day, encourages his teammates, and does lots of charity work.  And he hates taking days off when his team needs him.  Twice this year he's played through a fractured ring finger.

  5. retired: Jason Schmidt

    current: Richie Aurilla

  6. Retied?  Ernie Banks

    Current?  Greg Maddux

  7. Albert Pujols. I think he's one of the smartest players in the game right now. I'd love to see him get into coaching in 15-20 years.

  8. Ken Griffey Jr.

He may be past his prime now, but he was a great all-around player. He hit for good average and had great power. He had the speed to steal bases and he was a fantastic defensive player. Plus, as a kid playing in Seattle, the smiles on his face showed that he was having a great time playing the game.

  9. Derek edefinately  ive never really thought of mo but i guess he works to, i hate the sox but ortiz wud be good to
