  1. Derek Jeter. Always friendly & treats players & fans alike with respect. Also not arrogant or an ego trip. He handles things the right way.

  2. Cal Ripken Jr. immediately comes to mind, for all of the reasons everyone already listed.

I agree that Derek Jeter is a class act, even if I don't like the Yankees, I do respect Jeter a lot.

And, as a Rangers fan, I have to say that I totally think Michael Young is a class act; he never argues with umps, he plays hard, and he respects his teammates, coaches, manager, and opponents. =D

Btw, I can't believe Ian could be out for the rest of the season!!! (Sports hernia, I think.)  Aaah!!! I'm so sad... =(

First CJ... Then Murphy... Now Ian! T.T

  3. John McDonald is an excellent example of a class act. He hardly ever starts and plays his heart out when he gets the chance. He takes time to help others (even outside of baseball). When he was rewarded a contract extension he was told that he would be the starting SS for the Jays. Sadly, he was benched for another season for David Eckstien became the starting SS. Still John McDonald didn't mind. No matter how little playing time he gets, he tries to make the most out of it.

  4. These players are great friendly players. Always respectful to other players, teammates, fans. They're kind and are no cocky and full of themselves. Basically, these people are great people and they are kind, and don't act like they're the best. Always go out and do their job and work hard. They're very dedicated players.

    Derek Jeter

    Ryan Sweeney

    Josh Hamilton

    Tim Lincecum

    Kurt Suzuki

    Ken Griffey Jr.

    Joe Mauer

    Grady Sizemore

  5. When a player takes the time out to circle a field to slap hands and share in the moment with fans about HIS accomplishment and career, I think that qualifies.

    That was Cal Ripken Jr.

  6. Derek Jeter.  One of the best baseball players ever and he has a great attitude to his teammates and fans.  He is even buddies with Red Sox players!

Always standing on that field or batting at the plate, he always has a smile on his face.

  7. derek Jeter. Classy and plays his hear out.

    starred

  8. My definition of a class act when it comes to baseball is the guys who let their play do the talking.

    here's a list

    1 Derek Jeter

    2 Justin Morneau

    3 Joe Mauer

    4 Josh Hamilton

    5 Cliff Lee

    6 Maglio Ordonez

    7 Jermaine Dye

    8 David Wright

    9 Lance Berkman

    10 Randy Johnson

I could go on for a long time, and this is no specific order, its just a bunch of guys who go out and play hard, and do whats best for their team on and off the field.

  9. Derek Jeter and Dustin Pedroia...both hold themselves together really well on and off the field

  10. Chase Utley is a classy player. I have never seen him argue with an umpire over a called strike or look back at him or if he is thrown out I've never seen him argue the call either.

He also is willing to talk to the media even when its not convenient; and when he does talk to the media and they want to talk about how great he was that night he always makes sure to say this is a team effort and doesn't talk about himself a lot. Plus he holds charity events and raises money for animals.

  11. idk about baseball but all softball players are usually, but the most classy one is Jessica Mendoza

oh a classy act is someone who is always nice and never is a bad loser or a bad winner but is always competitive

  12. Jackie Robinson.  Took brutal torment and never lost his cool.  There's a reason why no one can wear 42 anymore.

  13. Derek Jeter, he treats the fans & teammates with respect & it is maily because of the way he was raised & the classiest acts of all time would be Cal Ripken Jr & Tony Gwynn

  14. Mark Buehrle of the White Sox.

  15. Three automatically come to mind. Derek Jeter. Cal Ripken Jr. Tony Gwynn.

All three are class acts and great ambassadors for the game of baseball.

(Note: I may not like the Red Sox, but David Ortiz is pretty classy, too.)

  16. David Wright, Jimmy Rollins, Corey Hart, Kerry Wood, Josh Hamilton, Ken Griffey Jr, Derek Jeter, there is so much more, they all do things for their community and they help out children by organizing leagues and games.

  17. my definition: Someone who works very hard, doesn't complain and treats everyone (even the fans) the same way. Respectful, nice to the fans, giving etc etc :)

    Ken Griffey Jr

    Torii Hunter

    Roy Halladay

    Vladdy Guerrero

    Derek Jeter

    Joe Mauer

    John Smoltz

    Michael Young

    etc etc :)

  18. Ooo. By Class Act I thought you meant as in a clown. If that would be the case then no doubt it is Jose Reyes

  19. Derek Jeter, Garret Anderson, and then the greatest class act of all - Cal Ripken Jr.

Ripken would take time at the ballpark - home and away - to sign autgraphs for the fans. For free no less.
