What basic speakers can I hook up directly to a samaung LN26A450 hdtv? I only need a little sound enhancement?

Please help! I'm one of the very few people who never does high end entertainment. Recently (like this week lol) got an hdtv, awesome picture (for me at least) but sound is awful. I wanna find some cheap speakers (was thinking about the logitech surround sound systems but don't know if they are compatible with the hdtv) to hook up to the tv since I'll be playing ps3 on it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

The only speakers you can hook directly to a TV are self powered speakers like Logitech or Creative. However you will run into problems especially playing games and watching DVDs. Downmixing 5.1 audio to stereo does not seem to work very well.

Also TVs do not have 5.1 analog audio outputs and many cheaper speakers do not have digital audio inputs. If you want to keep the expense down I would have to recommend (cringes) a HTIB system. Just be sure it has at least one digital input.

Separate components are the best way to go but that would be more expensive.Though several companies have come out with better HTIBs that equal the price of low end separates. Unfortunately the sound is not equal to separates.
