I'm 5'8" 162 lbs. I tend to play at a power forward despite most of my friends all around 5'10"-6'3". I have a good low post game, a good mid-range jump shot, an average three point shot, good ball handling, i slash to the rim often and finish very well. I have tried playing at a shooting guard and a point guard., but i did not feel comfortable. I'm contemplating losing a little bit of weight and moving to a small forward. Any opinions would be helpful.

  1. Your a small forward or you can be a

    Power Forward depending on your

    opponents

  2. To me it depends on who you play. While height wise u give up about 2 - 7 inches to your friends but it shuldnt really matter. If for example your friends is 5'11 134lbs you still go 28lbs on him. Use the post up game then. If he's bigger than you like 6'1 play the 3. However if you're going out for a team then I suggest you lose a few lbs, or if not, work it into muscle so that it really wuldnt matter about ur weight.

  3. well i'd have to say small forward because of your size, handles, and stats but i hope you know that when you get older and possibly play in college that you'll be a point guard because of your height but that's if you stay that same height. Practice playing pg now because later you will experience it or you won't play. u should always want to be good at all the postions though.

  4. I'd suggest you to be a small forward.  You have all the skills to be at this position.  With you're height, you must be a point guard but with your game, i think you won't be comfortable for the position.  your height might not be suitable for PF or C becoz no matter how good you are in the post or in rebounding, you might be outplayed by bigger and longer men you could play

    with in the future.

You're game is a combined Lamar Odom and Caron Butler type.

  5. dont think about what position you're playing just have fun.

  6. I think Small Forward position suits you best. You don't need to lose weight, you can be comfortable with your height at the same time weight. Its up to you! Goodluck!

  7. Power Forward.

  8. small forward bro

  9. bench warmer

  10. Def. a small forward. But you also have to lose quite a bit of weight, to get quicker of course. If you grow a little though you would be a good power forward.

  11. Just play! If you're comfortable playing as a PF, then so be it! Just make sure that your defense is good! It doesn't matter what your position is, if your basketball defense IQ is mediocre, then it don't matter what your position is, you;ll still look silly during the game.

  12. I'm basically you except I don't have any ball handling skills at all.  Definetely be a small forward for sure, height matters, trust me.  I would suggest only shedding a few (5 or less) pounds and just gain muscle, lose all the fat you can.  If your quick like me weight doesnt matter as much, muscle does though.  Play power foward only if the player is 5"10, tallest, other then that work on being a SF.

  13. small foward
