I know that you use the really small round battery but I heard that you need to use a specific type or else it doesnt work for the camera.

  1. Konica C35 uses 1.3v PX675 mercury battery. I am posting some links in source section so that you can get more help.

  2. 1.3v PX675 mercury battery....because of its constant power supply to the camera, it is why other batteries cannot work on this Konica C35 camera, it is for the very first production of the Konica C35 series.

Due to environment safety, mercury battery is very hard to find and later, they will extinct in the market. Your C35 camera will become an antique.

Anyway, Konica C35.. are very popular in the market, and I do not know what series that you are holding, I append here the website of the Konica C35 camera batteries for your reading:-

It may helps you to look for a sepcific type of batteries for your Konica C35 camera instead of the mercury battery.

  3. Battery originally 1.3v PX675 mercury

Replacements for obsolete batteries such as the once-common PX675 and PX625 can be got at www.photobattery.com or Radio Shack.

Also, the shutter works perfectly using a 1.4v zinc air hearing aid battery, $5 for a pack of 8 at Radio Shack.

The Konica C35 first came out around 1968, and was designed to be an inexpensive, easy to use camera for the masses; this does not imply in any way that the camera is "cheap" in terms of quality as it's all metal construction has allowed large numbers of them to survive the years gracefully. It has first class lens, first class exposure meter and good mechanical quality.

Like most of the cameras of this type, there is no switch to turn off power to the exposure meter when not shooting: the camera relies on you, the shooter, to keep the lens cap on when not shooting in order to conserve battery power

The batteries should be removed from the cameras during long-term storage!
