  1. Sir, I believe that poodles are very good for older people. My grandpa and nanny both had poodles, they were great companions for them later in life. They are small and can go everywhere, they are also very mild and timid so they are really the yapping barking type.

  2. How about a miniature schnauzer.  They're lively and feisty, and lots of fun!

  3. i would have said a golden retriever but if u want small id prob say a shih tzu

  4. bassett hound

  5. Depends what you like, and it depends on the dog, just cause its one breed of dog dosnt mean its going to behave in a certain way. you need to think about what size of dog you want, how much feeding and looking after is going to cost, plus having to walk a big dog is more effort! if you look after it right all dogs are great companions!  (tho i prefer cats)

  6. Basset hound, Beagle, Mini Schnauzer. You don't want anything too small because it may be afraid if you use a wheelchair. These dogs are smaller but more sturdy then a poodle, dachshund, or chihuahua.

  7. there are many dogs that would be a good companion, i recommend  a golden retriever since you are disabled but it grows to quite a big dog.

  8. chihuahua. some of the breed give them a bad name but many are sweet, loving and devoted.  a good size too.

  9. chihuahua....pomerian.chinese crescent. chihuahua especially because they crave your attention and love

  10. Definately a Pomeranian! They are the most gorgeous toy dog around.Very intelligent, fluffy, loving, not yappy, don't need to be exersized daily, eat minimal and will follow you around everywhere :) The only negative thing I can say about Poms is that they can be a little hard to toilet train but with persistance you'll get there.

  11. If you're after a small dog II would advise against a Shitzyou - they are named that for a reason.

Get a small dog that actually has a brain & doesn't constantly dribble mucus from it's eyes.

And a smooth coat of fur that's pleasant to pat & doesn't have matted hair that requires constant grooming or removal of 'barker's eggs' from the rear end.

  12. Shih-Tzu  very social dogs.. they are small, they are smart and can be trained.  My dog makes a noise at the door when she needs to go.  I would pick a female shih-tzu if I were you and always spay or neuter your dog.

  13. Why don't you go to your local shelter and check out the dogs there.  I don't think a good companion is about the breed of a dog, I think it is more about the personality / temperament of the dog.  At your shelter they will be very familiar with the dogs temperaments and should be able to find one with a temperament and size to suit your needs.

    Good luck.

  14. Any dog can make a great companion. A small dog though.. How small? At first I was going to say a black lab but thats probably too big..

Dodson's are cool (they are like the little hot dog type of dogs)

**** Zu's (or however you spell it)

Their are many many small breeds of dogs out there but perhaps you may try finding a dog that is in need of a good home? Maybe even one from the animal shelter that you can spend time with before hand? That is always a good thing to do and it saves a life. Or even in the newspaper someone giving away a dog because they are moving or what not. You don't really need to buy a dog for it to be a wonderful companion. Best of luck to you sir.
