I'm going to Edinburgh,UK for a "Holiday" next month and would like to know what beer is the favorite, and do you recommend a nice "pub" to visit.

I prefer a light beer, not too strong.

(I drink Budweiser Select here in the States)

I don't like (care for) dark ale's as they are too heavy.

I heard "light beer" is actually referred to as, "Lager", is that true ?

Thanks for any information to this question, and in addition to the "best answer", I will also "hoist one" for you.

  1. Yes stick to Lager. That is basicallywhat you drink at home. A general style of beer that was originally stored and aged (lagered) in its cask or vat for 1 to 3 months until free of sediment and crystal clear, after which carbonation was added and the beer was bottled. Modern production techniques now complete this process much more quickly. Lager is a light, bubbly, golden brew that ranks as America's most popular.

  2. If you like american beers such as budweiser, you will not enjoy  brit beers, stick with budweiser its available.

Lager is Lager.  No real light beers in Uk

  3. Lager is the closest to an American light beer although bottled Budweiser and Millers are available in most bars, some bars do have one or the other on draught.
