  1. They get to remove British sovereignty, piece by piece.


  2. De Gaulle keeped out GB two times because he saw the danger of USA influence on european integration.

    GB only want the european market.

    But Ireland and Denmark didn't go in europe without GB.

    The only advantage for EU is that the enlangement growed up the credibility of this organization.

    Very little really. If the UK hadn't joined it would have to have negotiated a free trade agreement (and implement all EU trade law) as Norway and Switzerland do, because 70% of UK trade is with the EU.

    I don't think there is any benefit to the EU.
